C did this when she hit her 6 week growth spurt/wonder week 5. She was a screaming, sleep fighting mess. Heck she's 12 weeks tomorrow and she still is sometimes.

I want to say it lasted about a week for us. On day 3-4, I lost it and had to set her down in the crib and walk away for a couple minutes for my own sanity. Less than 5 minutes, she was dead asleep. I don't know. She still gets like this sometimes and I just have to set her down and let her calm herself. Best I can figure is that her being with me or being rocked or patted by me is contributing to being overstimulated. She seems to NEED to cry it out sometimes.

For us, I think it was the growth spurt paired with overstimulation/overtiredness. After the first day when I let her CIO, I started just watching her really closely and would put her down at the first sign of being tired to kind of head off the hysterical fit. It seemed to work. Sometimes she does fussy cry before she falls asleep now, but its only for a couple minutes.

I cant completely empathize though because C only does this during the day. We have a strict, strict bedtime routine and bedtime and she does great at night. I had someone suggest to start putting her down earlier at night and it made the world of difference for us. Shes a pro night-sleeper now.

We went through that, as well, but I think ours has mostly been due to reflux. We went through a wonderful time of it last night, in fact. I've learned, at least in my case, that setting him down and letting him have a good 3 minute fit works wonders for tiring him out. Can't do much else. I typically put him down on his tummy, though, because it doesn't seem to allow him to get overly upset that way.

Aww I'm sorry. Not all babies are good sleepers so don't feel bad! You will get through this for sure.

During the day my LO would only nap in the swing and only if I put her in it at the right time.

Have you tried using a carrier to give yourself a break?

I totally can relate and you must be at your wit's end. My son was like that until we suspected he had a mild form of reflux. We held him up for 30 mins after feedings and switched his formula and now he's much better.

yes we had this problem so we ended up putting baby to sleep on her belly but i know not everyone is comfortable with that. We also had luck with this Snugabunny sleeper from fisherprice. It makes her feel cosy like she is being held and its easy to move from room to room.

First off, M is NOT a good napper period. She has been like that since day 1. It takes FOREVER to get her down for a nap and for the night. I used to start the "routine" around 7pm and she won't go down till 11pm! That part is fine it's the fussing and crying that was hard. Thankfully she has gotten less fussy and cries much less now. I don't know if it's just getting "older" or it's that I'm more conscious about not eating gassy foods or eliminate milk/dairy from my diet.

Even now at 8weeks though she hardly naps. We're lucky if we get 1 hour nap out of her.

But regardless at her 6th week the crying did come back for a few days.
