It breaks my heart to read this update. There really aren't adequate words, but I'm thinking of you all and your whole family is in my prayers. I hope you get beautiful photos today that you'll be able to cherish forever.

I know there's many people thinking of Kelly & Lucas, I wanted to give an update... they were able to wean Lucas off the vent yesterday, so he's extubated (on high flow oxygen) and doing reasonably well. He still is pretty sedated but they plan to wean that also.
The hope now is that they will have days/weeks with him as opposed to hours, which was what they initially thought. They were also able to get the photos done this morning.
Not to speak for Kelly, but thanks for all the thoughts, wishes, and prayers. I know they are appreciated.

I came here to update and see that Beaker did a wonderful job!
We have had some busy days with lots of visitors and love for Lucas. He's still pretty sleepy and lethargic but aware. It was wonderful to do pictures this morning both to have the pictures that I will always treasure but also to spend some quality time as a family of 3 - I don't think we've sat with the three of us on the couch together for at least a month. He is holding his own, things are still day to day, but I think we should have a week or more with him. Thank you everyone for thinking of him and praying for our family. I can't tell you how much it helps to see how loved Lucas is.
