I'm on vacation with my family and all the women are talking about their big babies. Almost all over nine pounds. I was 9lbs9oz and born on my due date DH was 9lbs3oz and a week early. My grandmother had GD and delivered a 13 pounder. I'm freaking out.
Was your babies birth weight close to yours? DH's? Somewhere in between?

Hubs was a twin so was born at just around 5lbs.LO was average at 7lbs, 6oz.

I was almost 9 lbs and DS was 6.7lbs and born only 2 days early. I'm not sure what his bio dad weighed but I don't think parents birth weight is a very good indicator of baby's birth weight. DH was nearly 10 lbs at birth so with our LO on the way I'm hoping my theory is correct lol. His Mom however gave birth to 2 9lbs babies a 10 lbs baby and her youngest was 13 lbs! She gave birth to them all naturally. She is my hero lol

I was 5 lbs, 9 ounces and DH was just under 9lbs. LO was 8 lbs, 1 oz.

Both me and Mr Bee were very small. Mr Bee was a twin so he was 5 lbs, and I was 5 lbs too. But Charlie was 8 lbs 6 oz! Olive was only 4 lbs 15oz, but she was born 5 weeks early.

I was worried about having a big baby too since no one in my family was born under 8 lbs. I was 8 lbs 12 oz, DH was about 6 lbs, and our LO was 7 lbs and almost a week early.

I was really surprised at how big he was!
I even commented when my water broke and I could better see LO's outline in my belly: Oh, he's going to be so small! -

LO was the exact same weight as me - 8lbs 5oz. We were both over a week late.

My LO was closer to her daddy's birthweight, which unfortunately for me was big.

My LO was 9 lbs, actually smaller than I expected, born at 40 weeks 1 day. I was 10 lbs 6 oz, 8 days late. My husband was 8-9, not sure when he was born in relation to the due date. We are both tall, and I was sure I was going to have a huge baby.
But! A big baby did not mean a difficult birth for me, so don't worry too much. Even though he was 9 lbs, my LO was born relatively quickly, no complications, no need for pitocin, and no conehead. Don't let the crazy birth stories stress you out!

I was 5lbs. (but I was almost 3 weeks early), and DH was 7-something (but he was also early). LO was 8lbs exactly and was 2 days late.

So you're telling me I just have to wait and see. Why do people try to scare pregnant ladies with their birth horror stories? Ugh.

my best friend was told she might have to get a section because she is so tiny and narrow. She ended up delivering a 9 lb, 8 oz baby and only pushed for 11 minutes!!! -
I was 5 lb 7 oz (2 weeks early) and DH was just about 6 lbs (on time).
Our son was 5 lb 5 oz and ten days early....so he was about the size of us.

No idea about DH. I am a twin and both of us weighed 6lb something. DD was born at 8lbs 0.7 oz (induced 1 day early). My twin sister's two children were just over 8 lbs each (her first was induced and her second was scheduled c-section; neither due to size concerns).

I was 8lbs 15oz. My LO was 7lbs 3oz. I was 19 days late and she was 2 days late.

i was born almost two full weeks late (my mom's ob went out of town, and scheduled her c-section for his return), so i was a husky 9lb 5oz. i'm trying for a vaginal delivery, so if i have an almost 10 pound baby i will weep.

I was told there is no correlation, I was getting nervous as my sisters have yet to have a baby under 8 lbs 7 oz.
My oldest niece was the combination of her parents (who were both preemies) at 8 lbs 9 oz. Her mom was 4 lbs 4 oz, and her dad was 4 lbs 5 oz!
I was 8 lbs 1 oz, and DH was 5 lbs, so I"m interested to see what we have!

I was 8 pounds 1 ounce. DH was 6 pounds but born a month early...imagine how big he would have been full term!! Hoping this baby isn't ginormous.

DH was 8 lb 13 oz, I was 7 lb 2 oz, and LO was 8 lb 5 oz. So she was pretty much right in between us.

my OB said that DS would fall somewhere in between what DH and I were at birth because I was measuring average. He ended up being bigger than both of us but not by much.
Unless you're measuring unusually large, I wouldn't worry about it. Your grandmother with GD would have probably measured pretty big with a 13 pounder! -
@rachiecakes: I measured full term at 33 weeks. Every L&D nurse that saw me commented on how big my belly was. It made me feel so good.
LO did end up being a whopper (just over 10lbs) and required a c-section. -
DH was a little over 6 lbs and I was a little over 8 and DD was 7lbs 12 oz so she was mack in the middle.

@oliviaoblivia: !! I was always asking my OB how big DS was because people (coworkers) would comment on my belly being HUGE but every doctor or nurse never said anything, I was so worried. But everytime I'd ask, she'd just say "average". And she was right, she does this all day every day, she knew. DS was perfectly average at 8lbs 2oz.
I feel like if the doctors or nurses comment on being big, they know!

I was 6 lbs 2 oz born two weeks late, my husband was 8 lbs something at 2 weeks late.
My LO was 5 lbs 2 oz born 2 weeks early.
