LO is starting to show interest in dolls and "loving"/hugging them which I adore, so I want to get her a baby doll for her birthday. Any recommendations? Something soft that will stand the test of time, and has different skin tone and hair options!

We have the all soft Corolle doll (lili grenadines heart) and I love it. It's washable and I personally think the plastic dolls are a bit creepy. So that's the baby we put her to bed with and drag on vacation with us.

We have the soft Corolle doll also, gave it to LO for her first birthday and she loves it! If yours is turning 1, I highly recommend a doll stroller to go with it. We have the $10 one from Target and it gets more use than just about any other toy we've got! (Often without an occupant, haha)

@tororojo: She is turning one! I think I will get her a stroller
@JennyD: She has a lot of my old plastic dolls and I think they are a little creepy too, especially because they are old and a little grimy! Good memories associated with them though. But I'd still like to get her something soft & sweet.

Oh, what a bummer. Corolle doesn't have any all-soft dolls with dark skin tones.

@daniellemybelle: I wonder why? Since they make other dolls w/darker skin. Honestly, you probably don't need the cloth kind for a 1 year old, and if she can see fingers and toes and stuff, that will help learn body parts, plus they're more fun!
Maybe this kind would work? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004KU9S9K?pc_redir=1409977240&robot_redir=1
I'm also in love with Bitty Babies (American Girl). I'd love to get DD one when little sister is born but I think DH would kill me for spending that much on a doll.

@tororojo: I would rather get something more cuddly...
Thinking maybe a Bit of Whimsy doll?

@daniellemybelle: aww, that's super cute! I like it. Do you think it will make a difference to her whether it's lifelike or not? DD has a Carter's doll kind of like that one that she never touches, I think she likes the Corolle b/c it looks more like a baby. But that could be just her quirkiness, I don't know.

@tororojo: It's a good question! So far she doesn't care too much as long as it has a face - so she loves on stuffed animals with faces equally. But I think as she gets older she might want a more lifelike doll so that's something to think about...!

@daniellemybelle: I posted about baby dolls not too long ago too! We got the Corelle Mon Premier doll and also got a stroller (from wish list). She loves both!

@daniellemybelle: I used to be freaked out by real looking dolls too, but after seeing DD's reaction to a plastic faced doll at the doc's office, I had to get her one. I also chose a Corolle Calin. She seems to treat it differently from her stuffed animals. I liked the quality of Corolle so much that upgraded to a larger size one for her Christmas gift (Classique Happiness).

@shopaholic: @SugarplumsMom: I think y'all are just convincing me to get the "big girl" Corelle!

@daniellemybelle: They have ethnic dolls available:

Eta: Those are all pretty small, but they do fit a 1-yr old *really* well. My DD's 2 now (will be 2.5 during Christmas) and sometimes I wish I just bought the bigger one instead because of the pacifier. But she still loves her baby, but the bigger one has a lot more accessories and easier to buy clothes for.

@daniellemybelle: Yes, my main deciding factor was after LO tried to take 2 different Corelle dolls from 2 different people's strollers. I figured she really wanted it.

@shopaholic: Haha too cute!
@SugarplumsMom: I do think I am going to get the Mon Premier. When I said big girl I meant not 100% soft, because unfortunately they don't have those in my daughter's skin tone.

I got my LO a bonikka mea rag doll which she loves ... and a my friend huggles bia doll. The my friend huggles dolls are about the same size as my LO who is 2 years old so she LOVES the bia doll too. I would highly recommend both. they have a lot of variety.
