@jetsa: yep, Grandma and Nana both overfed in our case. He'd fuss for two seconds, or be over tired from not getting a nap and they'd freak. "He's STARVING!!!!"

Drove me crazy.

I would venture to guess that they're overfeeding him.

How much does he eat in total? I had the exact opposite problem this week. D would eat almost nothing with the grandparents. I have the exact opposite of an over-eater for sure! I would decide based on total ounces rather than the fact that it's more than daycare.

I left our 2.5 month old with them while we went out to dinner, expecting to be gone one feeding. I left a 3oz bottle with a 2oz bottle on the side just in case she was extra hungry, and then an extra 4.5oz bottle just in case we got delayed somehow and they had to give her bedtime bottle as well. They texted me halfway through dinner to say that they'd fed her ALL 9.5oz in one sitting and she was still fussing for more and were going to dip into my freezer stash. Ummm, no.. a two month old doesn't need to eat 10+ ounces in one sitting.

yeah, i would say he's tired and they're feeding him instead! i would go for a schedule since he's on one with daycare.

@cmomma17: This is totally my MIL. Every single freaking time he gets crabby because h's tired she assumes he's hungry. The time before last she was like, "I ended up having to feed him two bottles in a row because he was so hungry! And then one more before you got home!" That's 18 ounces in THREE HOURS. He was 5 months old and typically drank SIX ounces every 3 hours.

OP, I would start giving grandma very specific instructions. My nice-ish way of doing it is, "He should eat X ounces every 3 hours. Lately he's been a bit tricky and acting hungry when really he's just tired, and if I offer him an extra bottle he'll eat it but then later he gets an upset stomach, so I would write down the last time he ate or something just to make sure the bottles aren't spaced too close together."

I've considered only leaving enough formula for the amount of time I'll be gone, but then I worry I'll run late or he will truly be hungry for more. I wish I could just let her follow her instincts about when he's truly still hungry, but it's been made extremely clear that I can't do that, she majorly overfeeds him every time.
