My experience with baby gap stuff was that it ran a little big. My daughter was just under 7.5 lbs at birth, and the 0-3 month stuff was too big for awhile. should I get the actual newborn size this time, even though it says "up to 7 lbs"?

I also found the baby gap stuff ran big and my almost 9 lb newborn still worn the actual newborn stuff from there even though it says up to 7lbs. 0-3 month stuff was too big.

Same experience here - DS was 7 lb. 12 oz. and was a rapid weight gainer but did not fit in the 0-3 months size until about a month old.

I don't think the up to 7 lbs is any different than carters NB.

My big girls were too big for gap nb but they were ten and almost eleven pounds.
My peanut was eight and a half and could wear it for a couple weeks.

My little 6lb 4Oz baby wore the newborn size until about 3 months. She out great the 0-3 months baby gap at about 6 months.

0-3 pretty much is 3... I had a 6.4 lb newborn so she definitely was in NB sizes for a little while.
