We just got approved on our new rental house in Texas and get to move in today, Yay!
It has an upstairs so we will need 2 very sturdy gates. Also I'd like to gate off the kitchen.
It has a fireplace so will need to screen that in somehow.
Also it has a bannister/balcony upstairs overlooking the living area so wondering if we need to do something to make that safer.

For our woodstove we use the summer infant custom fit gate. It's the best if you have a big opening to cover/gate, and install was crazy easy. LOVE it.
At our stairs we have a pair of first years everywhere gates...one top and one bottom. Like the clear panel so kids can see through and super easy to wipe clean. The whole thing just swings open, rather than a center panel.

For a cheap and unobtrusive way to block the fireplace in our last rental, we had a piece of thick clear plastic (like plexiglas) cut to fit the opening, and then attached it with industrial strength velcro. They do sell hearth gates, but they are huge space hogs.
