T is getting super fast at crawling so it's time for a baby gate. But our stairs are open in an L shape. Any recommendations for a baby gate that can accommodate unusual doorways?

@Alivoo01: that may work. I also found this https://m.buybuybaby.com/m/product/kidco-reg-custom-fit-auto-close-configuregate-in-black/206608
We have plaster walls so having to mount it is not great. We may have to have something custom made.

We gave up on it and put the gate straight across the hallway, separating the kitchen/living room from the stairs/dining room. It's not ideal but it's worked out fine.

@erinbaderin: right now our success plan is to leave her in her crib upstairs or her playpen downstairs if we are not actively watching/playing with her (which feels a little helicopter). I'm overwhelmed about baby proofing since our entire 1910 home feels like a hazard. I guess we could just gate off her bedroom?

We have the exact same stair set-up and were perplexed until we found this gate: http://www.amazon.com/Indoor-Extra-Wide-Pet-Gate/dp/B00LNH8EL6/ref=sr_1_27?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1452701109&sr=1-27-spons&keywords=baby+gate&psc=1! It's not pretty, but it wraps around the L-shape and attaches to the wall. I think they sell shorter sections too if you need those.

Is this from your main level down? Or from your upstairs down to the main level?
We had a tricky situation with our stairs (from the upstairs - only bedrooms - down to the main floor) and decided to just gate off her room!
