I'm going to get my haircut this afternoon. My toddler is going to my moms but I was going to bring my 2 month old with me so it isn't so hard for my mom. Is this ok? It's just a small town salon. Nothing crazy or fancy. The hair dresser is my childhood best friend's aunt. She's done my hair my whole life. She just recently hired two other hairdressers and brought in pedicures and massages, but they are in seperate rooms from the hair salon so I don't think a crying baby would cause an interruption....thoughts?

Seems like it would be fine... unless there is someone getting a massage and LO is really fussy, that would be distracting/not relaxing for that person.

I brought LO with me when she was about 3 months. She just hung out in her car seat on the stroller. It is a fancy Aveda salon, and it was no problem.

@Beyond2: my MIL owns a small town salon and they love when their clients bring babies.

I've brought LO with me when I got my haircut a couple times. Everyone at the salon loves it!

I took C with me when she was about 2 months old, the owners daughter held her while she did my nails. I also go to a small town salon that I've been going to since high school!

I guess I'm in the minority but I'd be annoyed if I was getting a haircut, etc. and someone had a baby there. It'd be fine if it was quiet but there's no guarantee. I'd be annoyed by a crying baby if I was getting a treatment. Most people go to relax.

i wouldn't think an infant would be an issue! salons aren't normally quiet!

I'd be fine with it. I was at a salon with a crying baby before and it didn't bother me. It was relaxing enough for me that it wasn't my crying baby.

I'll dissent and say I wouldn't. Salons usually smell like hairspray and nail polish that I wouldn't want a baby around, and sorry but I would be really bummed if I had paid someone to do my hair and there was a crying baby. Especially when I was newly postpartum because that was the maybe 1 hour I was getting away from my own crying baby.

I wouldn't go to a nail salon with tons of chemicals in the air. As a customer I would be really annoyed if my hair stylist was distracted by a baby either crying, but more so visiting with the kom/ baby in the middle of my service.

If there was a guarantee the baby would be quiet, sure!
Count me among those who would be annoyed if there was a baby crying or fussing while I was getting a haircut or pedicure. I'd cut some slack if it seemed like a last minute thing or the mom had no choice but in my opinion, if you have an option for someone to watch the baby, you should leave her.

My salon is very small, but they have a no kids policy in place. They want their clients to have a specific experience and that just doesn't include babies!

I'd be pretty annoyed if there was a crying baby at my salon while I was getting my hair done.

i did when LO was 2 months and she had a great time
blew right through a nap she was so excited about it haha. i see no issue with it whatsoever - it's not like a spa...salons are noisy!

My hairdresser always says I should bring my guy along! I never do because I want the down tine but it is good to know that they would be fine with it in a pinch.

Dh always brought E to his hair cuts...his sister is his stylist.

So I ended up doing it. Every seemed to love her being there thankfully! I tried to leave her in her carseat but she started to fuss so I put her on my chest and she instantly fell asleep for the rest of the time! Thankfully the nail stuff is in a different room (it's an old house) so there was no smell issue and there wasn't anyone getting a color or perm while I was there.

Glad it worked out! I was going to say at that age you would probably be fine since they just sleep most of the time.
