I know there are a lot of people on here who have done BLW. Here are some blog posts to get you started.

We did! Those are some great posts to start with.
We started with small shreds of chicken. We baked it and shredded it with a fork. Also steamed broccoli (easy to hold and eat,) tortellini cut in half, steamed baby carrots cut up into chunks, shredded cheese (dont buy the pre-shredded stuff, it has nasties in it,) pasta noodles with butter or red sauce. Baked apples (skin removed) with a little cinnamon, toast with cinnamon cut up, baked sweet potato. Basically whatever we were eating. You want to make the pieces small enough to not choke, but easy for them to grab and feed themselves.
We did this because I tried to give Liv purees at 6 months, and she made this god awful face like "GROSS!" I tried again a week later and got the same face, but she was gnawing at our food so I knew she wanted more than milk. So we have BLW a shot and she LOVED it. I think she didnt like the texture, because even now she wont eat anything with that consistency. No oatmeal, applesauce, those squeezy fruit pouches, etc.

We ended up doing purees at first, but I made sure to make them chunky. Just because she wanted them so early. Then I started giving her big pieces of really soft fruit, or tiny pieces of whatever, and she'd eat them or not. Then when she could pick it up just small soft pieces of whatever we were eating, or various proteins and fruits and soft cooked veggies.
And don't skimp on the spice or heat - babies love that stuff.
