Yeah it's currently big news here in New Zealand, Police aren't getting involved though. It's not something I would ever do, I don't even go to the petrol station when I'm with Lo by myself - I try to have dh with me. Otherwise I take her out and have her with me.

Uh wtf. I'd say that boarders on a good reason to take the child away!

I like how she basically left her precious baby in the care of strangers who may not even notice or have time.

That kind of thing is illegal in most US states! I would never ever do that!!! Ever.

As a side note: some of the words you use are awesome. I have no idea what a newborn capsule was and had to look it up lol

Oh wow. That's just irresponsible! I personally would never leave my baby in the car alone.

@Mrs. Pen: it is illegal to leave infants without appropriate supervision here too.

Just an update, while the police aren't charging her, child welfare agencies are involved in the case. The people who saw the child phoned the mother and she arrived back at the car as the parents arrived. I would imagine that she will have an official warning through our justice system.

How crazy!! Hope that mom gets help realizing that its not okay!

@SweetMamaM: I love that even New Zealand (which I imagine as gorgeous and green and beautiful on every turn) has an armpit. Makes me laugh to think about it!

Whoa! And I'm living in a place where ppl often leave their babies outside, sleeping in the cold while they have coffee indoors. But in a car with the windows rolled up is something else.

Absolutely not, this is ridiculous. I don't even like leaving LO in the car when I return a cart to the cart stalls in the parking lot and I make a point to always park by one!
