Anyone have their LO start daycare at 8 months? How did it go? She's a serious momma's girl. It will be 2 or 3 times a week FT. How did it go?

We've been in daycare since 3 months, so first I just want say that your LO will do great!!
DS loves daycare, but he started getting major stranger anxiety there around 8 months. I never see it, because he is fine when DH or I are around. And he's totally fine with his main teachers too. It is just when a floating teacher comes in to cover during a lunch/bathroom break - he freaks out. They say it happens to all the kids around this age, is normal, and they're not worried...but I would just prepare yourself for this possibility, especially at the beginning when it is all new to her.

Following! The same thing is happening to us in August, only she will be 9 months. I am so scared! 3 times a week full time.

DD started around 7 months just going 2 days a week. She still doesn't nap very well because there's a lot more action going on than when she's at my mom's house. She does pretty well though and I'm excited that she'll get to interact with kiddos her age! She still fusses when strangers hold her but I think it's gotten better since she started daycare.

My daughter started a 10 months and there were a few tears at first but it was fine!

Because of Canadian mat leave, my DS didn't start daycare until he was 1. Admittedly, he bawled at drop off for like a year, but once Mommy/Daddy was out of the building he was happy and loved it there. When I picked him up he was always playing happily. They are so adaptable when they are little.

It was a little later - 13 months, but it was 2 days/week. My dad, FIL and BFF watched him up until that point, and I took the days away from my BFF since she was pregnant and due in February.
It was rough to start. I always did drop off while DH did pick up, and DS would cry every day for almost a year when I dropped him off. It was absolutely terrible, and super hard on me. I would call or see his teacher next time, and she always told me that he would stop crying within a minute of me leaving and always had a great day. I think it was just the initial separation.
Once he moved up a classroom, I upped him to 3 days/week, and he's so much better. He gives me a hug goodbye and tells me to go to work. Far better experience.

I think you will be fine at 8 months. Most of my Canadian friends who had their kids start at 9 months adjusted better than those at the 1 year mark.
It may take a little longer to adjust because she is going p/t though. She may be fine though!

@BandDmommy: my daughter started part time
At 8 months and there were really no issues with the transition.

DS started daycare three days a week at 6 months. The first 3-4 weeks were a tough transition but now he loves it. He is so happy when we get there in the morning and when we leave he reaches for his teachers to give them hugs.

We started at 9 months. The first month was a hard transition mostly because we all immediately got sick. Naps weren't good until at least 2.5 months in. But now everything is really great. He loves it, naps well, and while we still get the occasional illness the rate seems to be slowing.

E was 6.5 months when she started daycare and she was fine - she wasn't phased at all.

My son started at 9 months. He was pretty attached to me and I do think it set off a round of separation anxiety (he would sob and sob if you left him alone at night, but sleep soundly if we bed shared...the only few weeks in his little life that he liked co-sleeping). It definitely took some adjusting and it was probably harder on me than him, but each week got significantly better and by 6 weeks he was in a great rhythm and ate and napped normally at daycare. Now he's only there part time because I'm off for the summer and I swear he is sad about it.
