I love it - her blog post was just * her * style This is our first coming in November, but after wrangling nieces and babysitting kids into jeans.. I can say that actual jeans will not be making many appearances on our little guy until he is potty trained!

I love leggings on kids, and he'll be rocking onesies and sweatpants for sure.

My son wore pants, always with a onesie. It wasn't a big pain to change him and if we had to go somewhere, I could just pop on a jacket and we were out the door.

i did the same thing as you - stocked up on onesies and leggings at Baby Gap last weekend. i prefer pairing a onesie with leggings (as opposed to a separate top w/ leggings) because the onesie keeps the baby's belly and back warm and unexposed to the air. my babies just lay about on their backs or tummies all day, so i don't see the point in dressing them in stiff clothing right now. i happen to think my girls look cute with their little bellies bulging over their leggings. i even put their socks over the leggings to rock the 80s look.

@meredithNYC: Yes, the tucked in look. I hate when you see a diaper hanging out of the back of pants and an exposed back. Not cute!

I'm not a fan of the onesies and leggings look but that's just me. Little dresses with them sure! But, I wouldn't be putting a boy in them at all. Just my personal taste.

I think they are cute for girls...odd for boys. But, that doesn't mean I wouldn't try it if I got some as a gift. I just wouldn't go out and get them myself (i'm having a boy).

For our girl, onesies and leggings were AMAZING for daycare because it kept her warm and covered. We didnt start with dresses until she was past the crawling age and are just now getting into stiff clothing like jeans.

For boys I love the little romper things! So cute and super practical!

We do baby legs with onesies. Also a lot of onesies with leggings and a casual dress or longer shirt overtop.

@Thehistoryofus: the extra layer keeps them from having exposed skin on their back when it's cold. I also do a lot of long sleeved onesies under t-shirts with pants. Seriously, my blog post could have been three times as long, I'm ridiculous

I'm surprised at the anti-boy leggings thing - maybe I just have a more liberal definition of leggings/sweatpants? I view them as interchangeable though I guess I can see leggings being tighter cut.

@crisark @turtledoves I'm just curious since you both mentioned not for boys - do you think jeans are the only way to go? Or do you not think of pants like this: http://zutano.com/shop/category/baby-boy-bottoms/ as leggings.

I realize my gender 'norms' are more flexible than other peoples - but I'm just curious now if we'll be getting the style side eye when me and my boy go out of the house! (Not that we might not for something else, who knows!)

I never liked the onesie + pants combo, so I never bought pants. LO also never wore onesies for the first 2 months! As a first time Mom, I was too scared to fiddle with putting anything over her bobble head.

Now that she's almost 3 months old, she wears onesies and I've given in and bought some pants too! She has large feet and possibly long legs, so a lot of her sleepers scrunch up her little feet. DH thinks she looks cute in them, like she's a big girl, although I'm still not a fan, they're good for around the house.

My favorite combo for the colder weather: onesies + overalls or rompers. They're as practical as leggings, without the belly bulge and tucked-in look. Just throw on a sweater, a hair bow, cute socks/slippers and it's a real outfit

BTW, I find the pink Gap leggings (that come 2 in a pack) run really small! The 3-6 m is a lot smaller than Carter's 3 months. They hardly fit her and she normally wears 0-3 m.

DD has quite a few pair of leggings that she NEVER wears. My SIL keeps getting her some but I don't like them.

She usually wears onesies w/ babylegs, shirts with pants/shorts/skirt, or dresses w/ coordinating dipe. I will probably start putting some of her leggings under her dresses as it starts to get cooler.

I will definitely be dressing baby boy in onesies and baby legs! I'm actually planning on him wearing a lot of that for his first few months. They're adorable!

hehe the gap sells a lot of those tshirt-onesies for those who aren't into the 'tucked in' look but love the function of a onesie! they call them 'body doubles'
