Does anyone have any tips? I try giving her a toy while I'm changing her diaper, but it doesn't usually work. She thinks diaper change time means it's time to practice crawling. Is this a phase? She's 8 months old, it started maybe a month or two ago but it's getting worse.

I just started changing my son who is 10 months on the change table again. I have to be careful that he doesn't fall off but he stays a lot more still. If I do it on the floor he crawls away!!

Dealing with the same thing.. LO is 8 months. I have learned how to put his diaper on with him standing up. Otherwise he tries to get away, which usually leads to a melt down.

My LO has been like this for the past year or so--I give her a toy or something cool to play with (like a small sheet of stickers) and that keeps her still long enough.

Same issue here....I just try to distract with a toy and hope for the best! I hate diaper changes now!

My LO did that starting around 11 months...and now he thinks it's fun to stick his hands down in the diaper while I'm changing him. Hands full of poop, yay.

I have to change him on a raised surface, if it's on the floor he crawls away. I also give him something to hold, a thing of diaper cream of vaseline or something.

Around that age I would sometimes hold her down until she stopped moving and only then would I start changing! Later on I gave her books.

no advice. my baby is the same age. i'm in the same boat AND he cries. so i have a wailing baby who's always twisting his body trying to flip onto his belly. fun!

Okay I know this is totally weird but I sometimes blow on my baby's face! It startles her the first few times into being completely still and then she usually starts loving it.

@Mrs. Champagne: Lucky that he stays more still on the changing table. I change my daughter on the changing pad on our dresser and she still tries to crawl away. We've had a couple close calls cause she's so squirmy!

Yep. 8 mo and same here. My LO is always trying to roll over then sit up. She is MUCH better if I change her on her changing table rather than the floor (confined space) and I give her a toy and I try to move fast. I also talk to her a lot because I feel like she watches me sometimes trying to figure out what I'm saying and it slows her down.

8 months too and more of the same. I only change on fully wipe able surfaces and get her mostly naked to change to cut down on the poo everywhere situation

I always just sort of held her down with one arm across her stomach and moved fast. Had the second diaper under her ready to go

Ahhh, the alligator roll. I know it well. I just strong-arm the kid. One handed diaper changes are an acquired skill.

M is 9 months and is awful during changes. Sometimes D or DH have to cone in and distract him to get him to stay.

I change most often on our bed, so I don't have tolerance for shenanigans multiple times a day. When I set my 10 month old down, I look him on the eye and in my most authoritative voice say, "wait here." It took a while, but he got it. He still tests the boundaries from time to time. I can't imaging battling with a baby at every diaper change for months on end.
