I'm pretty sure 90% of the topics I've ever started on this site have to do with the napping habits (or lack thereof) of my daughter. Here's the newest wrinkle:

DD is 2 and a half, and has has recently started to drop her final nap. She typically only naps 2-3 days per week now. She is at daycare 5 days per week, and she is equally likely to skip her nap there as at home.

At home, when we put DD down for nap, soon after we leave her room she starts jumping, laughing, singing, shrieking (with joy)... and typically eventually crying when she bangs a body part on the side of her crib. We have tried everything in our arsenal (short of spanking, which we're not comfortable with), to convince her that she must lie down and at least be quiet for 1 hour during nap time. (In actuality, we can rarely get her to be quiet for even 5 minutes.) When we come back to her room to tell her to be quiet, she laughs at us. She thinks we're hysterical. Last week she pulled the same stunts at daycare, and she was sent to the director's office because she was keeping all of the other kids in her class awake with her antics.

I'm at a loss for what to do. It is extremely maddening to have a toddler laugh in your face when you are trying to tell them they are being really bad. I know I could just let her skip her naps altogether, but she's going to need to lay down during nap time every day at school until she's at least 5 years old. This is behavior that really needs to be addressed, and I have no idea what to do. Help me, please!
