If DS was old enough to go trick-or-treating, I totally would.

Heck yes! He's 1.5, basically just a prop that gives me an excuse to go trick or treating again

Yup. He will keep 10 pieces (after whatever he eats that night). Then we'll "Switch Witch" him a book or something and I'll eat the rest.

Yes, but only the good stuff. She can have all the candy corn she wants

Definitely! And since we have two kiddos DH won't have to share! @BadgerMom: I second this.

We went to Disneyland for the Halloween party. LO had a blast sayings trick or treat and seeing everyone's costume...that was her fun...the candy is mine Haha

I won't "raid" it, but I'll probably do some sort of trade for toys, and DH and I will have what she trades in. And/or just ask her for a piece. But I won't steal what's hers.

@HabesBabe: I am a total weirdo because I like candy corn and black licorice.

I don't think we'll trick or treat but I would probably just ask her and she'd share!

DS is great at sharing so I'm sure he would offer some up. Right now I don't plan on raiding it but definitely rationing it out to him so he doesn't go overboard.

Sure, I'll probably institute a mommy tax
@Torchwood: isn't your baby an infant? The distinction seems like semantics at that age.

Oh for sure. He doesn't need nearly that much sugar, but his pregnant mommy does

My LO hates chocolate, so I won't even have to raid! But, I definitely would - parent tax!
honeydew / 7667 posts
I'm down for a 100% mommy tax on snickers. Plus she can't have dairy anyways.

If my LOs get anything good I'll take one or two of whatever I want.

In Australia kids don't really trick or treat - will I buy candy "for my son" and then eat it for him? Absolutely.

@rattles: Oh, she won't have any this year. We're not trick or treating or anything. I meant in the future.
grapefruit / 4085 posts
Um, yes of course! She'll get a few pieces but surely I don't want her eating anything with caramel, nougat or gummy to wreck her teeth
pomegranate / 3375 posts
Well, my kiddo can't eat most chocolate (milk), so DH will definitely grab that candy to stash away for himself. Let's be real, I'll probably eat 95% of the rest of it.

I'm sad my baby isn't old enough to go trick or treating. I'd be raiding that stash like crazy!
grapefruit / 4903 posts
@Torchwood: ha, got it. I'm definitely eating all my 11 month old's this year! No guilt like I have picking through my almost 3 year old's!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@rattles: Oh yeah, if she got any I'd have no issues eating it. A 4 month old can't have it anyway, no use letting it go to waste!

@simplyfelicity: Not this year. pregnancy killed my sweet tooth! :o
honeydew / 7917 posts
Yes but mainly because they have food allergies. They will trade their candy in for a Halloween treat (toys from the dollar spot at Target).

We are taking DS trick or treating with friends even though he will only be 3 months old. My dad will be in town so we will just go to a couple of houses. When he gets older we will ration his candy and I'm sure mom and dad will sneak a few treats!
