I am watching Toddlers and Tiaras right now. ( The remote is across the room and I have a sleeping baby on me!) I've seen it before, but not in a very long time, way before I had my own kids. I am just aghast at the parents on this show. It is so crazy. Do you know anyone who has their toddler or young child in beauty pageants? Is it as crazy as it seems on TV?

I don't but it's not a thing in Oregon for little kids as far as I know. My modeling agency encouraged me to do pageants when I was a teen but I was not interested.

It's not a thing here in Utah. My cousin in the south has her daughter in them and while it's a little crazy, she's not anything like the moms in the show. I think the people on that show are the real high up professionals. And they win a LOT of money and scholarships for their kids. I mean as long as your kid doesn't hate doing them, go for it!!

I've gotten sucked into the show a few times, I don't know anyone who does pageants like that, and I can't believe the amount of money some parents spend! $25k for one pageant?! Yikes.

I live in NY and it isn't popular at all. I'm not a fan.

I live in the South and it's a thing. I grew up in the Midwest and never saw them before moving here. When I worked full time in a school they had one every year as a fundraiser.

I grew up in the PNW and I don't know anyone that did pageants at any age.

I live in the mid-south and you see them at fairs and stuff, but I'm not huge in the pageant circuit. I did jr. miss in high school, but that's it.

I think my aunt (in TN/MS) tried to get her grand daughter into it... thankfully she is a super star soccer player now instead. I don't think I could stomach it, unless my child just absolutely loved it.
ETA I don't think anyone does it up here in the northeast!

I had a girl at work who was really into dressing her daughter up. She did a few modeling things but I don't think padgents. Some of the outfits/hairstyles were way too mature for me.

I'm in the Midwest and someone in DHs family does it with their child. From what I gather on social media it seems like a lot of drama between the mothers. The winnings are just loads and loads of toys and crowns. I don't really get it but the mom says she has made really good friends and her kid likes it. (Kid is really young to know better so idk). I have seen pics of baby girls barely walking with pageant wigs on, fake teeth, just like the shows!
I traveled for dance competitions from ages 8-18 and we wore fake ponytails, fake eyelashes, etc I can imagine if my mother put that on fb people would think it was weird too!
