I have one of those low sleep needs kids. At almost 3.5, she sleeps ~8-9 hours at night and 2 hours nap (at school). Her average bedtime is 10 pm, and she's up 6:45 on weekdays and 7:15-7:30 on weekends.

We've struggled with getting her to bed since she got past her first birthday. Her bedtime crept later and later and she was taking longer and longer to fall asleep. We've tried everything- earlier bedtimes, later ones, different routines, nothing helps. She has a very distinct "off" switch and it comes when it comes (usually about 13 hours of total awake time later).

Her evening hyperactivity is crazy, and the last few days it's really bad. Right around 8-8:30, we notice a switch- she usually starts jumping, running, etc. We don't do sugar, we turn off electronics right after dinner (~7), we have low lights, we try quiet activities, nothing helps. And lately especially, it's as if her body can't stop moving. It's 10:30 as I type this and she is turning every which way, getting in and out of bed, like some kind of wound up toy. She fell asleep at 10:45 last night and looks like it'll be in that realm tonight too.

Anyone have experience with this? I have no idea how to calm her down in the evenings, and how to help her settle. I've gotten used to a late bedtime now but I can't function if 11 pm is going to become a new normal. Unfortunately school forces them to nap (and she has no problem with falling asleep for nap time) so that's part of the problem and I worry that because of naps and getting older, her body isn't ready to sleep until later and later, which has been the case for the past 2 years. But the hyperactivity is off the charts and I can't figure out what's going on. Would love any thoughts bees may have.
