So rather than my emotional post I wrote earlier, wanted to see some different views.
If you have fertility disorders or it's taken you longer to TTC than you thought....do you wish you'd started sooner?
I have PCOS and Endo, but we're revisiting our TTC timeline.

it took us two years to conceive charlie, but looking back we were in a much better place to have kids when we did, so i guess it all worked out in the end.
had i been a little bit older though, i definitely would have wished that i ttc sooner. but i was 28 and ended up having charlie at 31.

i'm in the middle. while i wish i started sooner (i wanted to be a "younger" mom).... i also know we weren't "ready".... and honestly, everything worked out in the end the way it was supposed to so i'm happy.

Now that I know we have fertility issues I wish we had started a bit sooner. I say that because my husband wishes we already had a baby and I know we are in a good place in our lives for it. I think I'm also intimidated because I don't know what treatments we will have to go through to get pregnant yet. We're still in the waiting phase. If we had started sooner then I would have some answers already.

I"m only 28.5, started TTC after turning 27. Not too bad, but Hubs is almost 36 and he had wanted to be a younger dad. We're only starting fertility treatments (2nd round of clomid) and I worry that it may take years to get a baby and that clock just keeps ticking. Also, we want 3 kids, so the older we get it seems like that may not happen.

We didn't have any know fertitlity issues, but it still took over a year. You also have to keep in mind that you could get pregnant the first month you try, even with PCOS and your other issues. You are still very young, and grad school is very challenging. I couldn't imagine having a child while I was in grad school. If your husband is also around your age, and you aren't 100% sure you are ready for a baby the 1st month you try, then I would wait a little bit.

We are in our 6th cycle and wanted to wait until we were married to TTC. Also I didn't want to come off of BC until right before the wedding because I get acne (BLAH!) and I didn't want that for the wedding. We talked about TTC before marriage... but really, I just wish we met/got married when we were younger so there wasn't so much pressure due to age.

I don't know that we would have started TTC earlier, but I know I wouldn't have gone on birth control when we got married. The BC hormones messed me up so bad; my cycles were still regulating after eight months off the pill. If I had a do-over, I would have started charting/temping from the beginning, and just been extra careful.

If you use the time to get ready to TTC, it can all work out!
Getting healthy, eating mostly organic, etc. - that stuff takes time... but doing it can buy you back some of the time you lose by putting off TTC!

@mrbee: Good point! We would definitely be using the time to get our lives and our bodies "in order." I've had lots of recommendations for things that are supposed to help with the PCOS hormone stuff at least.

@babynumber1: He is 2 years older than me - almost exactly, our Bdays are 13 days apart. He is more concerned about our waiting as far as his age in relation to our kids, but he still wouldn't be what I consider an "older dad." We discussed how we both felt with different ages.

I don't know that I necessary have fertility issues, but I've been having crazy long cycles since going off the pill 8 months a go. My doctor thinks I may not be ovulating. Since we got that news, we decided to push our timeline up from Fall 2012, to now. I can go to a fertility specialist if we're not successful in 6 months, so we wanted to start the clock!

We tried for 17 months before our BFP, we were seeing RE but they couldn't find any reason for us not to conceive. While we were trying I would have definitely said YES I wish we had started sooner, but I voted no, in retrospect it worked out just fine. (DS is 7 weeks old ) However I do want 3-4 kids (I'm 33 now) so if it takes us just as long for the next one, maybe I'll change my vote again.

I go back and forth on this. I got preg right away, but had a miscarriage. Now, I wish I had started sooner. It's so hard. Trying to believe that things will work out in the end.
