Hey guys!
I'm researching babywearing options and getting a bit overwhelmed. There's so much out there! I'm trying to decide what the best option to start out is- I would like something that works for newborns, preferably allows for hands free nursing, and that won't be too hot for me or baby when she comes in July. Any thoughts on what would be best to investigate first?

I loved my Ktan!! Super easy to use and wash. The only down side is it is by your size. So if you SO is bigger or smaller they can't wear it.

I'd find out if your area has a lending babywearer group. That way you can try a bunch before picking one.

I just got a loveydud for my newborn from etsy. I love it and it's easy to use.

definitely go to a baby wearing class if you can! It's a great resource, since carriers are so expensive, and you can try different ones.

The k'tan was a great start for me. DH really loved the ergo with infant insert.

I bought the K'tan (thanks, Petunia!) and I've tried it with one of DD's realistic babies haha. It seems easy to put on and fits comfortably. I don't know what I would have done without my Beco Gemini with my second baby though. It's a soft structure, it's wide enough to be correct for baby's hips, the straps are really comfortable and support my back well (whereas the Ergo slipped off my shoulders). I had an older model Gemini (2011) and a part broke but the newer model fixed that problem (came out in 2013). I liked that I didn't need an insert, there were 4 different positions to wear baby (after the newborn stage), breast feeding is possible in the carrier and my June baby never got too hot.
Other than the K'tan, other wraps like the Moby, or a Tula wrap seem decent and others love them.

DD loved being carried in the ergo with the insert. To me it was very easy, safe, and relatively straightforward. I just read and watched some videos on proper positioning and techniques. It was the only way she would sleep!

I loved the k'tan too when DD was little. If you can try them out though, definitely do that!

I'd definitely check out the local babywearing group! I personally preferred a ring sling when my son was that little. I use woven wraps and a Tula now, but I still keep it in the car for quick ups and downs.

Local baby wearing groups are usually great resources and can even lend you carriers to try. Stretchy wraps although good for when our babies are little tend to get saggy as the baby gets heavier and can sometimes be very warm in the summer. A ring sling is great when they're little and works for quick trips as they get bigger.

Looks like a lot of ktan recommendations. I like the idea of the ktan but it's too stretchy and not supportive and the baby ends up sagging and in a funny position after a while. A really good alternative is the infantino sync - a ktan is basically an easier-to-put-on moby, and the sync is a more structured less saggy ktan. it has a clip at the waist for more support and half the fabric is not stretchy so it doesn't sag

Another ktan wearer here! LO is only 8 weeks, tho, so ok not sure how well it'll work for us when he gets bigger. We love it now though!!
