I've realized it is time to start thinking about potty training in the near future. Can you recommend a potty seat? What brand do you like best? Or are they all kind of similar? This is new territory for me.

We wish listed and got the same one as @chopsuey: in grey. I picked it based on the reviews.

We just got the same Bjorn! Not actively training, but LO is pretty interested in the potty and has sat on it a couple of times.

I have the bjorn chair and got it after reading somewhere that a high back is a good feature to help LO feel more secure sitting in it.
I bought it in white and it kind of looks like a toilet, which may be helpful when training.

@oliviaoblivia:
Note: We're not PT'ing yet. But I just sit her on it sometimes to try and get her used to the idea.

We also have the baby bjorn potty (in bright pink).
It's cheap, simple, easy to clean. Perfect!

Another vote for Baby Bjorn! They also make a toilet seat that we ended up using MUCH more than the potty.

We have one from Target that goes on the toilet that has princesses on it but not sure the brand, A thinks she's so cool sitting on the big potty:)

We've had great success with the regular seat, with an integrated ring. It's always there. I liked the function so much, I bought a second one and brought it to my parent's house, where my son spends a lot of time. My mother can not stop raving about it (she's seen a ton of gear as a kindy teacher).

i ended up getting the baby bjorn smart potty, similar to the potty chair, but smaller and i have a tiny bathroom and a small LO. i think it will be good for him/us. It is apparently easy to travel with. And it was $10 cheaper than the chair!

We got this one - http://www.walmart.com/ip/Fisher-Price-Learn-to-Flush-Potty/21975841
LO isn't potty training yet, but he was obsessed with our toilets so we went ahead and purchased this preemptively. I have no idea how it will work, but it makes a flush sound when you push on the handle, and it has a sensor so it sings and claps for them immediately when anything wet hits the bowl. I like the immediate positive reinforcement in theory (I guess only time will tell

We just got a ring for on the regular toliet. It felt like it was one less step in the learning process. It worked out fine for us.
Also, at daycare they just have regular toliets (although some are rather small/short).

@californiadreams: which color did you get? We have the blue one because it was $20 less than the other colors.

@oliviaoblivia: i got the gray. it was closest to gray-ish blue toilet we have at home and i didn't want boy blue or boring white, lol. I checked the price of all the colors and they were the same when i ordered the smart potty. for the potty chair that you have, i just checked now and the prices do vary for the colors!

We have the Ikea potty (relatively similar shape/design to the Bjorn potty). The Bjorn potty retails for $50+ here and I just couldn't wrap my head around that!
I wanted some sort of potty seat, but our apartment has weird trendy square-ish toilets that don't work with potty seats.
