In an effort to save our BFing relationship I'm trying new BFing positions. Please share yours with me and any tips you have with respect to that position. TIA.

I'm not sure what you've tried, but for me, once I figured out side lying it changed everything. DS nursed a lot, and it was sometimes frustrating to be stuck, however, if I could lay down and close my eyes, it made it, dare I say relaxing.
Many people lay the baby in the crook of their arm, but I actually laid him on the bed with my arm out over the top of his head if that makes sense. It gave me use of both my arms/hands.

@junebugmama: that's exactly how we do side lying! Maybe I'm saggy but the boob just slips right out of her mouth if she's propped by my arm! lol

@Mrs. Sunshine: same here, it was always so uncomfortable that way. Saggy boobs unite! Lol

In the early days I really favored the football hold. But I always held my boob with the hand not holding the baby. Still do but now we tend to just do the crossover. Are you holding your breast with your hand shaped like a C, slightly pushing back to help elongate & get a better latch? (Not sure that made sense.) did you talk with an LC at the hospital? If you're having trouble maybe you should schedule a visit with one.

in the early days (first 2-3 weeks), the football hold saved us. i couldn't get her comfortable with the cradle or cross cradle so she wouldn't be able to latch and she'd get so upset and flail. side-lying was a complete disaster. anyway here are my football hold tips: i would sit down on the couch and lay her down on a pillow parallel to my thigh facing me, with her butt scooted far back. then i'd lean over and dangle my breast in her mouth, and she'd latch really easily and then i'd slowly sit up with my hand behind her head and under the pillow. that worked really well for us. good luck!

When LO was little I liked football hold the best, with my brest friend in a glider. I would often compress my breast while feeding, and rock. When LO is especially fussy, breastfeeding while I stand up works well, even better if I walk. I have not actually done it, but I have heard good things about breastfeeding in a warm bath, so both parties are relaxed.
