I'm looking for recommendations on biking with baby. We love biking, are asking for a bike setup for Christmas.
Which seat/trailer do you have? Our LO is nearly 1, and we'd like it to be something we can use for a few years. Or, if you have a seat/trailer that you don't like, could you still share why?
Also, I found out that the local hospitals gift toddler helmets (for biking) to local parents as part of a safety program! Just a tip to check your area.

We have this one. My husband didn't want any of the kiddie-colored bike seats and this one matched the forest green of his bike (LO rides with him). BUT....as an observer (I've never ridden with LO), I think a back seat where the baby can fall asleep might be better. Biking puts LO to sleep almost every time, and then she starts falling forward onto the pad, but then sliding off to the side, so my husband has to like, hold her body in place while she's sleeping and then he only has one hand on the bike which isn't super safe. 
She won't sleep in the stroller or the car, but the bike just lulls her into sweet sweet sleep, I guess!

@Anagram: I've never seen a seat like that! It's awesome!! Do you know if it's easy to put on and off of the bike?

@littlejoy: it's fairly easy....my husband takes it on and off to store our bike downstairs (he doesn't leave the seat on in case someone wants to steal it, but he leaves the center attachment-bar thingie on his bike).

I got one for DH last year for Christmas and have loved it so far. We have this Schwinn seat on the back of DH's bike.

We started riding with J right when he turned a year. We have the GIANT brand seat that mounts on the back. It's alright, but I wish we'd had a bike seat with a little more padding because the first few months he'd cry going over bumps, and I wish it had a better seatbelt. It was $50. I actually wish we had paid a little more to have a nicer seat but I didn't know at the time. I will say that I like having him mounted to the back though. As he gets bigger, I don't think it'd be comfortable having him in front of me.
ETA: this was his first summer in the seat - about 16-17 months old

We have an iBert seat and LO loves it! She's 2.5 and we've been using it for 1.5 years.

No experience with a trailer. We live in a big city and I don't feel comfortable with them. I prefer a rear mount seat, to me it is more stable and lasts longer than a front mount. Our seat is by a brand called Hamax.

@littlejoy: so glad you posted this- we are going to ask for one for Christmas for C! She will ride on dh's bike and he wants it mounted on the back so going to check those recommendations.

We have a bike trailer, I like it but it is heavy to pull LO in it! Maybe a front seat is easier for guys or tall women but I rode with my niece in a front seat once and I had to ride frog-legged to avoid slamming my knees into the seat. It was miserable!

We have a trailer (Burley Encore) in Austin TX and LOVE it. Expensive, sure, but totally worth it for me. Can seat 1 or 2 kids safely (two toddlers get a little squished if they're on the tall/wide side, like my kid is) up to a combined weight of 100lbs, and I only really feel the additional weight on hills because it is balanced really well. I use it to ride to our local grocery with or without the little dude!
One of the plastic D-rings broke after the first year, but other than that the only issue we've had is the little dude throwing a tantrum about getting strapped in -- when that happens I'm so glad he's in his own little container and not throwing his 40lbs around on the back of my bike!
