What birth control method are you using while breastfeeding? Anyone taking the mini-pill or other low dose hormonal BCP? Has it impacted your supply? When did you start taking it?

I think @geekinheels was taking the minipill and got pregnant with baby #2!
I'm going to get a hormonal IUD, but we're done with having kids. In between Charlie and Olive we just used condoms.

We are just using condoms or spermacide as recommended by my of. The IUD is too long term as we want to have another kid again within a couple years, and my doc didn't want to prescribe a pill.

Nothing hormonal for me either but I've never been on a hormonal birth control so didnt want to start. But I haven't had any supply issues at 6 months out.

We're just using condoms.
We have two friends who've nicknamed their children "Mini" since they were conceived while Mom was on the mini-pill!

Wow - lots of mini-pill pregnancies! Guess we'll stick with barrier method until I'm done breastfeeding. Definitely not ready to add another LO to the mix just yet.

I stuck with condoms. I'm overweight and that can diminish the efficacy of birth control pills in general. I felt that taking the mini-pill would be ineffective since it's less hormone that the regular ones, and thus would be even less effective in a woman my size.
Also, with condoms, I didn't have to worry about my supply or the hormones getting into the milk.

We chose to just use condoms so we didn't have to worry about the potential affect the pill or mini-pill would have on my milk supply.

We want the first two to be fairly close together, so we will probably just use NFP, temping, and condoms during the dangerous times. I really hated the pill and don't really think an implant/IUD would be worth the shorter time span that we are considering at this point.

The thing about the mini-pill is it's more important than the regular birth control pill to take it at exactly the same time everyday. This is usually tough for women to do in general (myself totally included), let alone a new mom! So if you are on it and administration times vary from day to day, your chances of getting pregnant shoot way up.
After our first baby, I got Mirena. I seriously think it's the best birth control ever.

My dr asked me yesterday if I had thought about using, and I have no idea!It was hard enough to get pregnant the first time, that BC hasn't really crossed my mind! I'm thinking the mini-pill if anything.

My sister got pregnant again with her youngest while on the mini-pill so I would beware.

I used the mini pill while breastfeeding. The only thing I found was that I was hopeless at remembering to take it! I blame Mom brain! I had to set multiple reminders on my phone. You do have to be careful with it as you only have a 3 hour window to take it.

I'm taking the minipill, and we're also using condoms. I've been taking it for 2 weeks and so far, no supply issues.

I'm hoping to get an IUD after Cameron is born. I can never remember to take the pill, and my husband and I both despise condoms, so that won't work. Plus we got pregnant even though we were watching my cycles, so some form of birth control will be need and an IUD seems safest in our books.

We aren't at that point, but I think that we will just be using condoms in between. it seems simplest & I'm so bad about remembering to take pills as it is, I wouldn't want to mess with that.

I decided not to use birthcontrol. I got a script for the minipill, but returned the prescription after I read the booklet that comes with the medication.
It basically said that the medication can or will pass to my baby though my breastmilk, but the effects to the child are unknown.

We didn't have sex. haha.
Actually I wasn't "ready" my recovery took much longer than usual, but then again I only breastfed for 4 months.

I'm exclusively breastfeeding, and haven't started my cycle yet again (LO is 3 months old now). We use condoms as well, just in case.
After we are finished having children, my husband will be getting a vasectomy.
