Not too often. It just depends how healthy you are I think. When I first got pregnant they took 11 tubes of blood, but it was only so many because I'm Jewish so I had to see if I'm a carrier for certain things.

I got a LOT of blood drawn. I think about 6 times for this pregnancy
I had it done at my doctors to confirm pregnancy and then again
-at my first OB appointment {A lot was taken this time}
-for my NT screening
-for Spina Bifida
-For urine analysis
-for glucose test

I also started out my pregnancy TERRIFIED of needles but honestly you just gotta find a place to go to while they take blood, because I realized freaking myself out everytime was just not the way to go.
at first I would just close my eyes and look away, so I didnt have to see the needle going in and that helped calm my panic, but now I can look right at it while she does it.

Wow! So, I had like 8 blood draws with my miscarriage. And then, I opted out of the bloodwork to confirm the pregnancy, but they made me do a quantitative hCG series (2) later. Then... 2 other days of tests, and then since then 3 more tests and I still haven't done either of the glucose tests--plus one more next visit in 3 weeks. Why do they want so much more of my blood than everyone else's?
