If you like Spanish food, go to Tapeo on Newbury St!

I had a greaaat time at the Improv Asylum, though it's not a headliner or local comic.

It's also across the street from Neptune Oyster, mentioned above, which is THE place to go to for a lobster roll/seafood in general. It's a must for locals and tourists, doesn't take reservations, so try to go at an off-time. They're both in the North End neighborhood, which is our "little Italy." Pretty good eats, especially Mike's Pastry and Modern, both amazing Italian bakeries with legendary cannolis. Great for eating, or even just for walking around.

Is there any type of food that you're really into, or really interested in trying? French, seafood, tapas, ramen, soup dumplings...?

You've gotten so many great recommendations already I don't think I can add much!

I must second Neptune Oyster because it's amazing (and close to freedom trail if walking, in north end) just prepare to wait - no reservations and always packed.

I also second, tapeo, beehive is great for live music, very cool vibe.

If in Cambridge (Harvard square) so many great restaurant options but Alden + Harlow is newish and awesome.

Duck tours are really fun too!

@MrsSCB: Ditto on Hungry Mother! This is one of my faaavorite restaurants. That catfish and ohhh their cornbread! Truly amazing. It's strange to see a southern restaurant up here in Boston, but they do it so elegantly.

@hellobeeboston: Yes for Duck Tours! Definitely something every tourist should experience! A great and very entertaining way to get to know the city.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: For chowder, Neptune Oyster is also gonna be the way to go. Fabulous chowder. For French, Gaslight is a really great restaurant with a cool bistro feel. Accessible by the Silver Line (buses) in the very cool South End of Boston. Steak frites and moules frites are fabulous, classic French dishes. Also the steak tartare, if you dare!

@Seattlemom: Toro is awesome. Barcelona-style tapas.

Dali & Cuchi Cuchi in Cambridge are also good for tapas. Same as Tapeo on newbury street.

@Seattlemom: ooh, also - Las Ventas in the south end for Spanish bocadillos and some meats/cheeses and other items.

@Seattlemom: I agree with everything @hellobeeboston said about tapas. There is also a place called Casa B in Somerville which is supposed to be very good.

I've only been to Craigie on your list (which is outstanding) but all of those get rave reviews so I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

@ineebee: Sorry to threadjack, but must ask for your recommendation for soup dumplings!!!! Just 2 hours away from Boston and good dumplings are excuse enough for a trip.....

@yoursilverlining: I'm not ineebee, but I like the soup dumplings at Dumpling Cafe and Gourmet Dumpling House. Both in Chinatown. Mmm!
