So we are 4 episodes into Breaking Bad (season 1), and I'm not sure I understand all the hype yet. It's so dark and the main characters are NOT likeable.
When does it get good?? I should keep going, right?

Oh God it is SO good. Just keep with it. Most shows take a few episodes/whole first season to get into the swing of things. You'll find things to like about the characters but overall don't plan to love anyone. It is kind of like 6 Feet Under in that way (if you watched that)...

It really is amazing! We bought the first season box set, watched it and bought the next three seasons and finished them in about two weeks. We were hooked! It's slow to start but totally worth hanging in there. Season four finale was amazeballs!

Ok, we're almost done with season 2 and I get it now... it's definitely addictive! It's UNBELIEVABLE how things just keep going wrong for them. And turns out, I do like Jessie (most of the time)... didn't think I would like any of the characters!

We are 2 episodes into season 4 and like you, I was soooo not into it after the first few episodes but it became super addictive (as you now know!). Season 3 was crazy good!

I was going to say keep with it, I was addicted right away but I've heard a lot of ppl had to get to season 2 before they were hooked, but looks like you figured that out already! Everybody is very unlikeable until Jesse, then later on there is another character I love.

My husband liked it from the getgo and I really really disliked it. I thought they were trying to portray Walter White as some sort of normal guy who just gets trapped into meth making and I didn't get it at all and thought the show was just sad and gross. But then I started seeing WW as more of a Lex Luthor super ego character, where the evil just comes out in the right situation, and closed my eyes for the gross parts then I got addicted.

if you don't like them now at season one, u will not like them this season! lol. i actually really liked the first season, which got me watching until this past one! it just may not be your cup of tea.

And you will pretty much want to punch all the characters in the face by the time you get to the most recent season.. lol
