I'm trying to remember movies (or tv shows) that have shown breastfeeding. The only one I can think of is a Sex and the City episode with Carrie being shocked at Miranda's nipples.
It got me thinking about how little exposure most people have to breastfeeding moms. Maybe it's this lack of exposure to normal breast function that has people freak out when they see NIP.
Sorry for the ramble.

The one that immediately comes to mind is Look Who's Talking, John Travolta drinks Kirstie Alleys breastmilk on accident. Lol

There was an episode of friends where they talk about it (The One with the Breastmilk) but it was a bottle of pumped milk from carol, and Ross was grossed out.

Doesn't really count, but recently I saw a picture of Gisele bundchen nursing her baby while getting her hair done for a shoot! I thought it was sweet.

The show Parenthood talks about breastfeeding.. I can't remember if they show nursing or not in any of the episodes. But you're right, it's doesn't seem that common!

@Kemma: It's a movie with Maya Rudolph. She's pregnant, and she and her SO go visiting various friends as they try to figure out where they'd like to settle (at least I think that's the premis).

I don't know if they've ever shown Kourtney breastfeeding on KUWTK, but they've shown her pumping several times.

@mrskc: I think they may have shown one new mom trying to get the baby latched on, and you are right, they definitely talked about it a bunch with both new moms.

In the Friends episode @Foodnerd81 referred to, they do have Carol breastfeed Ben (though they don't show much because it is network tv, haha). Here it is (skip to 30 secs):
Chandler and Joey get all weird and Ross tells them to grow up -- "This is my son having lunch" -- I think the writers handled it pretty well!

General Hospital has made a couple of references to breastfeeding recently. They didn't show anyone doing it but I was impressed that it was even brought up.

I recently watched "Conception", an independent film on Netflix right now, and they featured a couple with a newborn and all the struggles they went through during the pp period. There were definitely several breastfeeding scenes. I thought it depicted true life pretty well in that regard!

Did Game of Thrones show Lysa breastfeeding? She definitely did in the books. Unfortunately it was shown in a very negative light (the kid was 5 or older?). Which, in this context it actually was bad, because it was being used to infantilize him and keep him "her baby." But I still hate seeing extended breastfeeding shown negatively.
