Am I the only one who gets a little skeeved out when there is lots of breastfeeding gear on a baby registry? I mean, I get having the pump on there because that's really expensive and it would be awesome if someone would gift it to you. But as far as things like nursing covers, and particularly the breast pads, I just can't get on board. I would rather just pay for those things myself then have my friends and family spend so much time thinking about my breasts!

I think they're fine to have on there. People need them, so why not? But I agree that for me personally, I didn't want the pads on there. I have no issues buying them for other people though.

I didn't have a problem with having that stuff on my registry. I received a nursing cover, pump and extra supplies as shower gifts.

I think it is fine to have on there, especially since everything adds up so quickly, I personally did not place those items on my registry, I purchased BF supplies on my own (and was very lucky to have my health insurance cover my pump),

I don't have an issue with it. It's stuff that is actually needed for the baby and if someone doesn't want to buy those sort of personal items then they won't.
I registered for nursing covers and some lanolin. I actually received quite a few breastfeeding supplies that I didn't register for (like milk storage bags and breast pads), simply because a few friends/family members knew that I wanted to breastfeed.

I'm planning on putting that stuff on...if for no other reason than to get the completion discount! If it makes someone uncomfortable, then they certainly don'thave to buy it.

I put that stuff on mine. I figured if they didn't buy it at least I would get a completion discount. And my family was very pro bfing so it didn't matter too much.

I dont have an issue with it. People can skip over it if they want to. Truthfully, I doubt anyone spends any time thinking about your breasts when theyre skimming the registry. They will see the stuff, know what its for, and either be comfortable with buying it or not. I CAN tell you as a mom who BFs, Im now totally comfortable with buying that stuff, because a lot of family members wont.

Haha. I added them to mine only because I wanted all my "needs" in one place! You also get a discount on items on your registry!

I'd much rather support someone breastfeeding than buy them another pink tutu that their child will wear one time! Before having a baby, I might have felt more like you, but now I am all about helping people get what they need for breastfeeding. The benefits of these items can have a lifelong impact which FAR outweighs the benefits of a set of onesies or a baby bathtub!
Boobs happen. They are an integral part of pregnancy and infant care. I know our society sees boobs as sexual but I wish we could help each other get past that....

Just me I guess! I don't really have a problem with it when other people do it, but for me personally I would just feel more comfortable just buying those items for myself.

@MamaMoose: I totally understand - the first time I saw breast pads on a registry I was like, "what?" But I didn't know too much about breastfeeding and I didn't really know the mom-to-be too well, so I will chalk it up to that.
But if you think your registry will have people thinking about your boobs, just wait until you have to feed your baby at a family function or party! It's really no big deal if you treat it as no big deal. Best of luck!

i think when the time comes, i'd put a pump or breast milk storage/bottle liners on there, but not nursing bras (i do remember thinking it was odd when i was buying a gift for someone and they had TONS of bras on their registry, but she probably wanted to use the completion discount) or pads on there. i don't think there's anything wrong with other people having them on their registries, but for me i feel like i'll use it for things that the baby will use in some way. i'd be more comfortable receiving gifts that, in my mind, were for the baby rather than for me.

I never even thought about it, I put them on just beause they are great little items to throw in gift baskets (popular with my group of friends.)

Most of the items I don't think twice about, in terms of OMG boobs! The pads, though, for some reason do seem a little odd. The only reason I wouldn't buy BF supplies (like the storage bags, etc) is I know a lot of people who plan to BF, get all the supplies, and then it doesn't work out for one reason or another, and they have all these supplies they end up not using at all. So I'd rather get something practical that I know they will use.
But, the pump, the nursing cover, neither of them are too boob-ish to me. I -

@Foodnerd81: Yes, sometimes it doesn't work out and the gear doesn't get used but the same goes for bottles, pacifiers, swings, that the baby doesn't like or clothes that are outgrown before they are worn (or only worn once).

I think it is weird and no ones business if I am going to breast feed. I do want the discount so I will add it when it is the time for my completion. I mean how would u feel if someone who bought u the pump kept asking u how it was going but you decided it wasn't for you and the baby? But that is just me you have to do what you are comfortable with.

@Ms.SK: Good question but I think the answer would probably be the same if the baby swing giver said, "Hey, how does Junior like that swing?" and the baby actually hated the swing. You'd probably just say something vague and polite, knowing there was no way that baby was getting back in that swing. Either way, if you're satisfied with what you're doing as a mom, no need to feel bad.
Fortunately most people know not to dig in too deep with registry gifts, knowing a lot of them go right back to the store!

I used my registry as both a registry & a list of things we needed & wanted, so I put all that stuff on there. I got a nursing cover at one baby shower & loved it!

I put everything breastfeeding related on my registry, I figure if someone doesn't want to buy it they don't have to...plus it gives me a running list of the things I will need to buy after the shower if we did not get something.

My MIL and I were talking about this since I didn't want to register for that stuff (specifically a breast pump which is very expensive!) I don't mind if others do I just feel a little awkward about it!

It doesn't skeeve me out but I didn't bother putting anything as specific as nursing pads on my registry. I suppose that did make me a bit uncomfortable. But I did have a nursing pillow and someone bought it for me!

It doesn't bother me at all. I put breastfeeding supplies on my registry. I was able to use my registry's completion discount for the things I didn't receive as gifts.

It used to bother me, but not so much anymore. Especially after how much of it I had to buy, it would have been nice to have some!
