So far the bulb seems fine for us but I wonder if we will wish we had the nosefrida. The thought of it initially grossed me out pre-baby. Now I don't think it would bother me to "suck" snot out of her nose! I do worry about how to clean the bulb since I can't take it apart. She's got a bit of a runny nose which is why it's on my mind.
ETA I just saw other posts on it (I didn't have NoseFrida as one word). New thoughts still welcome!

We used both in the beginning - the bulb fit into their newborn nostrils better - but as he got bigger, the Nose Frida has been much preferred. Either way, DS hates it.

I could never get the bulb to work really. Snot sucker was gross but effective, and I liked that I could see that it worked. LO hated it with a passion.

Never even bothered with the bulb. Went straight to the nose frida. The concept is so gross, but it just works so well, it's completely worth it!

She hates both! I find the nose grids is best for runny nose and the bulb better for gunky/stuffed nose.

We just got a clear bulb that comes apart and is dish washer safe. It's made by Neilmed and I think we got it at Target. Baby doesn't like it but I do.

Nosefrieda for us - although I certainly don't expect our nanny to use it so we also have the same bulb that @Corduroy: mentioned and she uses that. I don't think it works as well as the nosefrieda, but at least I can take it apart to wash it.

It is SO MUCH better than the bulb, and easier to clean and dry. And of course, the snot could never make contact with your mouth!

NoseFrida all the way! The bulb doesn't do anything for us!
Oh - and saline spray makes the NoseFrida work even better!

DS has his first gold and HATES having his nose wiped and especially the bulb.... He fights us. Going to have to try our nose frieda in the morning.

@Bluemasonjar: That's been my night! just did the routine and it was like wrestling a fish! Sorry he's sick- it's her first cold too and it sucks to watch them feel like this! She also had a bit of a fever (99.8) so I dosed her with Tylenol. Calling her dr tomorrow just for peace of mind.

@ldh112: Wrestling a fish is a perfect description!!! lol How is your LO doing this morning? DS woke up quite a few times during the night so I took him in the warm shower with me this morning and used the nosefrieda. I feel so bad for them!

@Bluemasonjar: 100.0 fever when she woke up and SO. MUCH. SNOT. Poor thing! I may try the shower soon! She's eating normally and being somewhat playful which makes me feel better.

Definitely the NoseFrida and saline! We tried to use the bulb in the very beginning, but it creeps me out what could be growing in those things. Haven't tried the clear/removable bulbs though.

I couldn't use the NoseFrida for the life of me on DS as an infant, but got tons with the bulb so I stuck with that. But DH was really efficient with the NoseFrida so if he was around, I asked him to do it.

I got super sick EVERY TIME I used the NoseFrida so I chucked it. The filters are useless, IMO.

@Corduroy: We use the clear bulb with J. I like it better than the NoseFreida which I found to be a pain to clean. Tummy time is also an effective snot cleaning solution.

switched to baby ibuprofen to see if it lasts longer than Tylenol. It's been a long day! I hope the fever breaks soon. If we can get out tomorrow I may see about those plug ins!

@ldh112: yep. The first time I didn't think anything of it, the second time I wondered it it was coincidence, and the third time I threw it in the trash. I had to suck pretty hard to get snot out and those germs must have gone straight down into my lungs. The filter is basically a little sponge, it would keep actual snot from going through but I think the idea of it trapping germs is kind of silly.

@jlm22: Same as yesterday! Tried a steamy shower but I think she mostly just had fun with the water splashing on her! Has your daughter avoided sickness so far? We were around a friend whose baby was getting over a cold and now I feel like I should be a mama bear about that type of stuff. But, I know it can really happen anywhere!

Nosefrida all the way. We were using the bulb until recently. Our life has thorough improved since using the nosefrida.

NoseFrida all the way.
Xander has asthma and it's triggered by colds. We could never clear his congestion well using the bulbs, so colds were really hard on him. NoseFrida works AMAZING!!

@ldh112: Getting colds will help build her immune system, so just think of it like that! My daughter just got over a cold. It was impossible to avoid as all of her germy cousins were sick over Christmas and it was impossible to keep them out of her face!

Baby girl was just in the hospital with RSV and they had to use the wall suction. After seeing them use that I have no problem using the NoseFrida. It's just so effective than the bulb sucker.
New phase for us is the 'snucker' ... Snot sucker.
It's been our friend since she has gotten out of the hospital and hopefully help our son not go into the hospital.

@ldh112: I put him on the changing table, use one hand to hold his arms down and use the other for the nose frida. When I use it it freaks him out enough to where he will hold his head still until I'm done. If he's extra squirmy I use DH's help.

@ldh112: I put him on the floor and sit on him (technically I'm kneeling over him), pinning his arms against his body with my legs. Then I can use one hand/arm to pin his head if I have to and the other to hold the NoseFrida.
