Burst Ovarian Cyst

Has anyone had a burst ovarian cyst?

in august when i had my m/c, ultrasounds found i had two cysts on my ovary, no big deal at the time...Dr. said she would moniter over the next few months...call if anything

fast forward to last Saturday morning at 130am, woke up with AF cramps from hell...thought they would go away...woke up DH from how much pain i was in...i seriously thought i was gonna die...DH got some motrin PM in me...and the pain finally became bearable...

I called Kaiser this moring and spoke with the advice nurse...she said it was possible one of the cysts may have burst...i have an apt with my lady Dr in a bit...

has anyone else ever experianced a burst ovarian cyst? did it mess with TTC???

Not sure either, but hoping whatever it is will quickly resolve without any TTC interruptions!

I had this happen once. I went to the ER thinking it was appendicitis only to find out it was an ovarian cyst that had ruptured. I'd never had one before, though I had had a uterine fibroid removed. While I can't speak to whether it'll affect your TTC this cycle (it was a few years removed from my trying), I did later end up with a diagnosis of PCOS. The upside? I'm 39 weeks pregnant today! Chat with your doc, and hopefully it'll be no problem. I'll keep you in my prayers!

The cycle before my BFP I burst a cyst. Fun times- but I swear it cleared the way for my BFP the next cycle. Hoping you have similar success.

Oh jeez. Why can't things ever be easy?!?!?!

So she did an ultrasound and the stupid cysts are still there. She wants be to do a more in depth ultra sound. She said she didn't think my pain was due to a ruptured cyst. So I left the office.

On my drive home she called me, she said she looked at my previous ultrasound and was concerned. She said before it was 8mm and now it was 4mm. She is concerned that she only saw part of my ovary. She started saying words like endometriosis (sp?) twisted ovary, surgery. I got scared, and I am scared. She scheduled an ultrasound for first thing Wednesday morning. I should have more answers by Wednesday afternoon.

This sucks!!!....I am scared!!!!

My cysts did not burst but they were causing torsion in my ovary and it was cutting off the blood supply. When they went in for surgery my overlay was swollen to the size of a fist (usually they're the size of your last finger joint) and starting to turn gangrenous. They removed 3/4 of the ovary and the cyst and out me on bc, and I didn't have any cysts after that.

@MrsCastro: I'm sorry you are going through this! I know it is probably really scary, but it is awesome that you are on top of things and getting it looked at now!!!! Please keep us updated. My sister just had surgery to have some things removed bc she let it go a loooong time. Prayers that they will get a better look and it isn't anything that requires surgery!

I'm sorry to hear this I have a close friend who had a cyst burst. It was super painful and she had to go in for surgery and then found out she was pregnant at the time (after undergoing general anesthesia). The baby is 7 now so all is well but it shouldn't mess with TTC!

@MrsCastro: That sucks! I'm so sorry. I think it's perfectly normal to be scared when things don't go as you expected during TTC or pregnancy because you have the physical issues, plus the emotions related to it! That said, hopefully, the fact that they will be looking more closely will lead to discovering and fixing anything that might be amiss now rather than it taking months of TTC before you even know about whatever. I'm hoping everything is a-okay or easily and quickly fixable. Hang in there!

Oh man! As if you things weren't complicated enough! I'm so sorry you have to deal with this, and am hoping the next round of ultrasounds will identify the problem and the resolution is quick and simple so you can go about your merry to TTC and get a BFP (with me!) this month! *hugs* Sending you happy thoughts.

hopefully tomorrows ulta sound brings back good news...and not anything else...refusing to let my mind wonder...positive, positive, positive, positve....

I had a burst ovarian cyst in the first couple months of TTC. It did take me 13 months to conceive (with 100 day cycles) and I on;y conceived with the help of metformin, so the burst cyst wasn;t the issue, just one more thing piled onto my TTC year from hell.

ETA: It did take me longer to conceive (unexplained infertility) but they don't think it was due to my 1 1/4 ovaries. It was actually the 1/4 ovary that released the egg when I got pregnant.

Dr. said she didnt think the cyst had ruptured, she actually thought the cyst was twisting my ovary...i dont want to think anything right now...well atleast not until i speak with my Dr after the ultrasound tomorrow...

so the ultrasound is done...now to wait for the Dr to call with the results...crossing my fingers that everything is fine...will post as soon as i know something...

@MrsCastro: I'm kind of surprised they're just giving you an ultrasound. From my ultrasound, they were about to send me home, when I started vomiting from the pain even after they gave me an anti-emetic shot. That's what FINALLY got them to do "exploratory laproscopic surgery" on me, which turned into the cyst/partial ovary removal.

@Adira: she didnt say anything...i tried to ask but she said she would rather let my Dr answer questions...arrhhh...but she did ask if i was trying to get pregnant and i said yes...she did say "hope to see you soon"...maybe i read to much into it, but hopefully that was her way of telling me things were fine...

@JamieLee: the Dr. did mention that was a possibility...twisted ovary from cyst....

@MrsCastro: I did, and it was AWFUL. It was so painful. But I was in college at the time and trying very hard NOT to get pregnant, so I can't answer the TTC question. But good luck!

YAY thank you so much ladies for the good juju...Dr. just called and said everything was fine...cysts do appear to have shrunk...she thinks this is what may have caused the pain from the leaking fluid...at most importantly should not prevent our TTC attempts...oh i feel so releived...
