Situation:
A manager asks an employee to travel for a week to work elsewhere in the country.
The employee states to the manager they cannot travel as they have early morning appointments before they start their work day. It does not affect their work, does not impede in their regular working hours, but they cannot travel.
Does the manager have the right to ask what the appointments are if they are outside of working hours?
Does the employee need to disclose to the manager what appointments they are? Can they state as a blanket "medical"?
Can the employee refuse to travel? The travel is not for day-to-day work, it's for meetings that can be done remotely and/or "team" events (aka food and drinks).
