I normally tough it out! Unless I am REALLY sick and don't want to contaminate other people then I will call in.

I'll call in if. I'm miserable and know my being there will make everyone else miserable, as well. I hate it when visibly/audibly sick people come to work. Keep the germs at home!

I almost never completely call out sick. I usually drag my butt in and do my most pressing work and then evaluate how I feel. If I still feel crappy I'll go home early. That way I take the pressure off the person who backs me up. Also, I like knowing that my boss saw that I was actually sick and not slacking off. The exception though is if I have a high fever. That almost never happens to me so when it does I take care of myself and rest.

When I worked, I would tough it out if I could. If I called in for every migraine I would never have gone in! But sometimes you just don't have a choice.

Calling in sick for me means that patients' appointments get cancelled and lots of people are inconvenienced. So, unless I am severely contagious (not just a common cold or something I can manage with handwashing, etc) or on my deathbed, I am at work.

Depends. If I'm feeling miserable and I have something that everyone else at work can catch then I don't go in. I think it's just rude to do that - if you are sick stay at home!
I am a teacher though - schools are a hotbed of germs and illness and we try to minimise spreading illness out to the whole community.

I almost never call in sick, especially for a full day. Even if I'm sick as a dog, I end up feeling so guilty about calling in that I would rather just force myself to go in for a few hours than deal with the guilty feeling. If I feel really terrible or am throwing up, I'll leave at lunch. Usually if I'm not throwing up, I'll tough it out all day.

I always stay home if I have a fever or if I am visibly/ audibly sick. I'd prefer to sacrifice the pay and keep my germs at home, I appreciate when others do the same. I keep my son home from school if he has a fever, or worse and I keep him home 24 hours after he doesn't have a fever. Nothing irks me more than sick children in school or sick co-workers to me it's inconsiderate.
My husbands ex-wife just sent the girls over with fevers, coughs and sore throats. I was livid. My policy is if they're sick they stay at home and we make up the next weekend. No need to get two households sick. I'm sure that doesn't sound nice but I'm a germ phobe and I go out of my way to not get other people sick.

I usually call in sick! I don't like when sick people come to work, so I stay home and try not to spread germies.

I will usually go in unless I have a fever. It's just too hard to miss a day where I work and DS has had a bunch of ear infections, so I've missed a lot for him. He has only had a fever when he has an ear infection, so we get him to the Dr ASAP and as soon as he is on antibiotics I send him back to daycare. Otherwise we would miss a whole week at a time.

I call in sick when I really feel like crap and I don't want to get anyone sick. I hardly get sick though, so I sometimes use my sick days as 'mental health days.'

I call in, I used to try and work through it and usually got sent home. Now beacuse most of my coworkers have young children, we all call in so there are no unnecessary sick germs at work!

I feel guilty for calling in sick sometimes so I usually tough it out even though I really, really, really want to stay/go home.
