I think we've finally narrowed it down to the two. I prefer the size of the Kia Sorento (it's a bit smaller,) but I feel like the interior of the Pathfinder feels SO nice. Anyway, if you have either what do you like or not like about it? Thanks!

Did you rule out the Hyundai Santa Fe? We went car shopping last weekend and put hold on a certified used Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2T. Our next pick was a Honda CRV. We sat in the Pathfinder and I agree - it was so nice! Just a tad too large for me. Maybe we will have to test drive a Kia Sorento before we make our final decision!

@Mrs Lavender: I haven't! The place we went to didn't have any in stock. I felt like the CRV was too small which is funny because I have been driving a honda civic forever. I think you might really like the size of the sorento. I loved the size it just feels a little, well, basic.

That's how we felt the CRV was, a little basic. A couple family members have them and rave over them - which is why we gave them a look. We will plan to test drive the Sorento on Saturday before we commit to the Santa Fe! DH is sold on the Santa Fe though. I tend to mull over everything! lol

@Mrs Lavender: Maybe I will have to check out the Santa fe then!
I think there actually is a luxury model of the Sorento.

My mom has the Sorento. She likes it a lot. Good value. I bet it is way better on gas than the Pathfinder. They seem bulky.

@808love: They're actually really comparable. 20 mpg for Pathfinder in the city vs 21 for sorento.

Oh that is good.
Did you use Car Gurus for spec comparison? It is pretty good. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/compare/Kia-Sorento-vs-Nissan-Pathfinder_d162_d245

I’m on my second sorento (we leased) and I’ve been really happy with it! Both times we opted to level up to the ex to get the features I wanted. The size is great (I have 2 convertible car seats installed), not too big but not too small. One little thing i really love is it has built in window shades for the backseat. Genius! I didn’t look at the pathfinder but super happy with my sorento, especially the newer one since they redid the interior dash to have a bigger screen etc.

I love our Pathfinder. It's almost 5 years old but still feels new. Usually by 3-4 years I'm itching for a new vehicle but not this time. I love all the little extras that were included in our model but would have cost $$$ in a different car

I've only had my Pathfinder for 2 weeks, but I love it so far (I upgraded from an older model CR-V). The interior is great, the seats are super comfortable (we took it on a short road trip this past weekend and DH commented on how nice they were) and you get a lot more features for the price than you do with other similar vehicles.
My MIL has a 6-7 year old Sorento and she loves it and hasn't had any issues with it so far that I know of.

I have a 2011 Sorento and have been really happy with it. It was just the size I was looking for pre-kids but with 2 dogs riding in the back. Now with 1 kid and 1 dog, it's still a great fit for us. I can see how 2 rear facing car seats would be tight though.
I settled on the Sorento because I wanted something comparable in size to my old Accord, but I wanted a V6 engine, which ruled out the CRV. When we test drove the Sorento, I really liked how it handled and loved the turning radius and how easy it is to park in small spaces in the city. We also test drove a Murano because it's similar in size, but the visibility in the Murano didn't seem as good to me.
Initially I was worried I wouldn't like another car as much as I loved my Accord that I drove for 10 years, but I needed some extra trunk space for the dogs, lol. I've had my Sorento for just over 6 years and haven't ever regretted it.

@Mrs Lavender: Funny story, we ended up buying a Santa Fe yesterday! For me, it was a perfect combo: the engine is very responsive (I felt like the pathfinder lagged) and was more comfortable than the Sorento. Plus, the size was in between the two. I have been driving a honda civic for 10 years, so ita going to take some getting used to. I'm glad you mentioned it because my husband was sold on the pathfinder until we got in the Santa Fe. So, did you end up getting the Santa fe?

@crazydoglady: Too funny! Awesome! We actually picked up our Santa Fe today! It's so nice, I love it! I'm use to driving a Toyota Corolla, so it's going to take some time for me to get use to it also. DH is obsessed... he's been outside for a good 45 minutes programming and reading the manual. lol Enjoy your new car!

@Mrs Lavender: How awesome! I don't even know how to get started programming it! You, too!
