Sorry if stupid question, but can I see a Midwife if not pregnant? @Septca raves about the midwives practice nearby so I figured what the hey, I need my annual anyways, and I want to talk to someone about my short luetal phase.

I am 99% sure most do see women who aren't pregnant. I know I talked to a few who offered to see me for a preconception visit. May as well call and find out, you have nothing to lose!

I've always seen a midwife (since long before I even dreamed of TTC) but she is also a nurse practitioner in an OB practice.

The midwives in my area do well woman exams.

My midwife practice is interested in "total women's health." So yes, they are available/expect to be your regular provider for women's issues.

@dc yoga bee - can I ask who you ended up with? I recently moved to DC, and we are waiting on TTC until we get our work situations a bit more settled- however we are very interested in using a midwife "one day" and I think the chance to start seeing one for my regular women's health needs would be a great way to start building a relationship. Thanks!!
