I am at the point where I need a couple new bras. I'm 10 weeks from my due date. Should I just buy nursing bras or do I need to spend the money on regular bras and then spend it again on nursing bras when the baby is here?

I've been wearing a nursing bra since 14 weeks- I figured if I was going to buy a new bras, they better serve a dual purpose and last awhile!

I say go for the nursing bras. I wish I had thought of that! Maybe there is a chance you would need another size nursing bra but maybe not so then it would save money.

When I went up sizes at like 26 weeks I went straight into nursing bras. They were actually less expensive than normal or maternity bras for my size, and I figured there was at least a chance they could do double duty for me.

@Andrea, @Rock n Roll: woohoo! I'm going to Destination Maternity tonight and just didn't feel like spending the money on a regular bra if I didn't have to. I'm going to try out the nursing bras. Thanks for your advice!

Is there a difference between nursing and maternity?! I would just get nursing bras since you're so close. Get them a size up so they're nice and comfy

I wore nursing bras through pregnancy and well after stopping nursing too... I got the sport bra kind and loved it.

Oh wow. My life has officially been changed. So, maybe wearing my 36B's while I'm really a 40C is a big deal... Nursing bras really are just like regular bras other than that hook on the strap.

I'm holding off buying nursing bras because I dont know if I'm going to go up or down in size. I'll wait and see what my boobs look like after the milk comes in and then I'll buy a nursing bra then

@mediagirl: I don't know, but I ordered a nursing bra for my next maternity/nursing bra needs. I DO hear that you will size up when your milk comes in though, so it might not be re-used...

I totally got nursing bras when I was in the third tri. I got a few of the Bravado Body Silk ones, which were forgiving enough to allow for extra growth.

Yes, especially the soft, sleep ones. They are not very supportive, but at least comfortable.

I didn't realise maternity bras were different to nursing ones! oops! I just wore nursing from 6 months on. I had already gone through 2 new sets of bras in ever increasing sizes so went nursing in the hope I could use them after LO was born ( which I did, eventually)

i lived in my nursing bras, during my pregnancy, while i breastfed, when i stopped and still now pregnant with baby 2. I never went back. but that's because my boobs grew. and i was too depressed to go and buy the right bra.

@chopsuey119: I guess I was just thinking of maternity as pregnancy. With just 10 weeks left in my pregnancy, I didn't want to buy a bra just because I'm pregnant that I might not get use out of later. If I grow out of it, fine but I'd rather it double as something useful - like a nursing bra.
