My DS's furniture converted and we had already bought the matching dresser and nightstand so we converted it all - for DD we bought another convertible crib/dresser/nightstand for her too.

I think that bed would be fine with a rail

I would just get a toddler rail and go for it!

Its a cute set! The only thing I worry about is the sharp corners but maybe you can pad those for a while.

My DD went right to a queen that is pretty high off the ground. I highly recommend The Shrunks inflatable bed rails, they go right under the fitted sheet and are awesome

Definitely! I slept in a twin bed pushed against the wall and with the rail on the other side since I was 15 months old!

I went from a crib to a twin- no rail and don't see why little people today can't do the same.

Yep. Crib to Full here, with no issues whatsoever.

We went from a crib to twin at 2- still using a toddler rail at 3.5 because she will fall out when she sleeps if we don't.

We're skipping the toddler bed and going right for a full!

We went from a crib to a double bed with LO1! Our transition was incredibly smooth, and we tried to do it before LO2 arrived so that he didn't feel threatened that baby was taking all of his stuff. We made a huge deal about redoing our front room as his big boy room. He "helped" to paint, picked out colors he liked and was really excited the first night he slept in there.

As an aside, his double sticks out from the middle of the room since we have windows on one side and a closet on the other. We use two bed rails on either side still at 3.5. He's really all over the place when he sleeps, so we have it there just in case.

We went from a crib to a floor bed to see how she'd do. She moved around so much in her crib, I was worried.. But she did awesome and we only did the floor bed for a week or two before moving her to a twin with no rail. She fell out once, and she didn't even wake up.

@JoJoGirl: That is a bummer It scared me to have DS so close to a window since he knows how to open and close them. I felt safer with him being away from them. He's so all over the place when he sleeps that he could easily roll into the windowsill if it's open and push the screen out and fall 2 stories. Our windows are lower than most. Middle of the room seemed much safer to me.

We did, but we went to a full after trying a twin.

Can you put the bookshelf part against the window?

DS went from packnplay to a foam mattress on the floor. He Loves his "bed" and someday we'll probably get Ikea bunks for him and baby brother.

We skipped the crib and toddler bed! She still sleeps with us but has a twin in her room for when we're ready. I expect she'll start napping there fairly soon.
