After having an argument tonight with a "friend" about having a baby, I think my biggest goal would be to successfully cut toxic people out of my life this year!
This friend was a bridesmaid, college roommate, and classmate since 6th grade. She's been telling me since I got married NOT to have children anytime soon (without me bringing it up). I'm usually an easy going, quiet person, so this particular friend is always quick to tell me her opinion. She has a mental list of things as to why she feels DH and I are not ready to have a baby yet (again, completely not asked for). A high school classmate/ mutual friend announced her pregnancy on facebook and my friend couldn't be more excited. Upon asking her why the heck she is so supportive of this girl and not me (both of us are young, 22/23, and we've been married less than a year), she stated that the situations are different and lectured me on how expensive/stressful babies are (my friend is not a mom).
Sorry, that turned into a rant. I guess I'm still a little mad! I'm super excited for 2012 though

@lilteacherbee: I'm with ya! After not hearing from my BIL today and after he left to go shopping with his friends after only spending 3 hours with us and his godson for Christmas I've decided I won't tolerate people like that no matter who they are. Best of luck to him and his not so lovely FI (who doesn't even speak to us). I hope it's worth it always putting others before actual family because my motto for the year will be, "You get what you give." I'm only surrounding my son with goodness and those who actually make a real effort to be in his life.
I really am excited for all that is in store for 2012 and we may also work on bebe nĂºmero dos later this year...at least if I get over my fears!

I'm looking forward to having a reason to clean house! We have two rooms that we will be selling/giving away furniture from. I plan on listening to my body more with this baby in there and just hope to be the best mom I can be when baby H arrives.

2011 went by way too quickly! can't believe it's already 2012! i'm going to have to remember to update all my workpapers and checks and all!
main goals:
1. (re)start a cooking calendar so i can cook healthier meals for my hubby and we would go out less (spent a LOT of money on food last year - could be someone's salary!)
2. take care of myself so my babies will arrive safely.
have so much more, but those 2 are the top.

I can't believe it!! I have the same goals as @tequiero21.
1. Cook healthier meals and NO takeout during the week. This is more for my DH than me (who needs to lose a good 10 lbs).
2. Slow down and try to take it easy for the next 5 mos so that baby winnie is happy and healthy.
3. Appreciate the little things.
4. Stop being stressed at work and about work (ha!)

@lilteacherbee: wow, I wonder why your friend thinks she gets to be a part of the major decisions in your life. That's just not her business!
My big goals are :
1. Stop and smell the roses and with my lo,she's growing up fast and I want to be able to remember everything and know that I did everything I could to enjoy her and all the little things.
2. Take control of my migraines. Lately they've taken over my life and I'm not ok with that. Of course I don't have much control of this, but I'm sure going to try!
3. Be happy with myself. This is the hardest for me, as I need to lose quite a bit of weight and I'm used to being thin. But I don't want to be miserable when I see a picture of myself anymore.

It feels unreal. I looked forward to 2011 so much because of the wedding and then once the wedding was over in June it feels like the year sped by! This year will be another milestone with the baby coming along. Just praying that all goes well with Labor n delivery and that I dont totally suck at being a mom!

@artbee: I have no idea! I mean DH and I are young, but we've both graduated college, have full-time jobs, and are as emotionally ready as we can possibly be. I ended up texting her and this is what she said
"I'm so happy things are going well for ya'll, but it takes more than a few months of happiness to raise a child and have a family. A child changes everything, sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad. Of course I'd be happy for you but it would be easier if you'd wait. You can't compare their situation..."
Also, this girl got married this past summer and my friend was a bridesmaid in both our weddings. My friend tried to tell me what to do the entire time, but I KNOW she wouldn't try to pull that crap on the other girl.

@lilteacherbee: sorry your friend is being so unsupportive! I think your goal for the new year is a good one. Besides, once you have a baby your priorities change and your too tired to deal with negative people in your life. Might as well just do it sooner rather than later!

My goals for this year are to hopefully get pregnant, finish my writing project and start another, and travel somewhere new. The current plan is to go to Thailand. I've never been to Asia and I'm beyond excited!

Mine is all about dinner too. I've rejoind a meal planning website that DH and I used in the past to help facilitate this. It maps out 7 dinners each week, gives you the recipes for each meal, and even provieds you with a grocery list. I'm really hoping this will end the 6pm stare down at the fridge we have every night!

@lilteacherbee: I'm all for cutting out toxic people! I've done it several times and while it's not something I'm proud of, it made my life so much better and I'm now so much more careful of which friendships I invest my time and energy in. Life is way too short and busy to waste time on people who just want to bring you down to make themselves feel important!

I know this may sound corny, but I'd like to get to know myself better. I am such an action-oriented person that I neglect to slow down and listen to my body and soul. This year, I would like to tap into my inner voice/intuition more.
