Or at least limit it? I am noticing wash wear on the girls clothes, and I'm hoping there is a way to keep it from doing that so much. Maybe hang dry more often? I know kids clothes get ruined quickly and it's not the end of the world, but some of the items haven't had a ton of use yet and I like to save things for LO2.

I wash the kids clothes on a gentle cycle (our washer has an agitator which is great for getting dirty loads clean but rough on clothing). I also hang nice clothes to dry to prevent wash wear.

I wonder the same thing! I have some things that looked faded and worn after only being worn a few times. I don't know if it's that they were cheaper or my detergent is too harsh. I do dry almost everything but that's not going to change.

You can look to dry on a low heat or tumble dry too.

Wool dryer balls. They seem to cut down on dry time dramatically, reduce static cling, keep clothes from getting twisted up together.
Also running gentle or short wash if the clothes aren't heavily soiled. Do an oxiclean soak instead of doubling the detergent. -
I turn a lot of things inside out and that helps keep character images from cracking super fast. I also wash on gentle and our dryer's default setting is line dry. We use dryer balls also.

I wash everything inside out, cold, gentle cycle. I use free and clear detergent which I found helps keep clothes looking nicer than regular "harsher" detergents. I also hang dry all her Tea, Boden, etc. No dryer for us unless it's PJs, underwear, socks, etc. And hang drying is really easy once you start doing it!
Tea is notorious for its wash wear and fade, but I've found doing this greatly reduced it.

Wash on gentle, inside out and hang to dry. If I won't care - like jammies- I just wash and dry on low. I have a big drying rack. Haha. Oh and I use All Free and Clear which seems to be gentle on clothes.

I wash everything with Honest or 7th Generation free + clear detergent on cold, gentle cycle, and tumble dry low. I also hang dry anything nicer - mostly sweaters/Boden knits and smocked clothes. And I use Shout color catchers in every load.

I'm a little particular about this because I want clothes to last through both kids- so anything with appliqué, collar, sweater, fleece or jeans I hang dry. The rest dry on low. I do use a f&c detergent and no dryer sheets but that makes less of a difference than the hang drying.

Are you using softener? It breaks down fabric faster so if you are, I would stop.

@Littlebit7: Amazon, of course because they have everything! I think Norwex sells some too that I have heard of but didn't know if they actually work. I've been wanting to get rid of as much fragrance/chemicals as possible but haven't found a good alternative to help with static.

@Littlebit7: I have 5 wool dryer balls. It I still have tons of static. Do they lose third effectiveness after a while or do I need more?

@peaches1038: I still get some static won't lie about that! But I find it is worse if I over dry the items. Dryer sheets certainly do their job of reducing static but they leave a super gross build up on your clothes and dryer. (I am by no means a chemical freak, but dryer sheets are a no go in our house)

@Truth Bombs: interesting, I never knew this. We don't use fabric sheets anymore but it's a good tip to store in case my husband were to decide we need them...
