Our toddler can nap in the stroller in our neighborhood but I'm curious if she will be too overwhelmed to nap in the stroller when we go to the zoo.

If he's tired enough! I recline it and pull down the sunshade to block out as much noise light as possible, and give him his paci and lovey.

She can but only if she's really tired (like it's been hours since she woke up/her last nap). She's 8.5 months old.
pomegranate / 3192 posts
No he is 10.5 months and hasn't been able to nap in the stroller for probably 3 months.
pineapple / 12793 posts
Yup. Stroller naps are a sure thing for her. If she fights it at home she'll definitely pass out if we go out in the stroller.

Rarely these days for the toddler. Every time for baby! (Still a baby at 12 months? )
grapefruit / 4066 posts
yep, she always passes out in the stroller or car when it is close to nap time. i bring her lovey when we need to do a stroller nap and recline the BOB and she always goes to sleep.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
nope. last time she did was in disney at 8 months old. i guess i could always try it and see what happens, but i value that one nap too much! lol!

He's 2 and he's never napped in the stroller for us!! I get envious when I see babies napping in their strollers. Why kid, why?!!?
nectarine / 2274 posts
Yes, in his Orbit stroller with his blanket and a paci. When we got a new stroller (Stokke Scott), he wasn't able to nap in it. We eventually sold the stroller.

He does, but it's almost always a short nap (45 mins -1 hr). He napped at Disneyworld in his stroller 3 days and there was loud music and noise and kids screeching (and he was then 21 months)! His umbrella stroller doesn't recline and I think he would have slept longer if it had.
grapefruit / 4278 posts
He's usually too distracted to fall asleep now. We lays back and looks so sleepy, but he just won't fall asleep. When we went to the zoo he was so tired but stayed up the whole time. He was asleep in his carseat before we got out of the parking lot though.

it's a tossup for LMW (21 months), and Wagon Jr. (at 4 years) will crawl in and fall asleep if he's tired enough. Both sleep like angels in the car though!
nectarine / 2631 posts
Yup. But we haven't tested this theory out in awhile so it could of changed!

@sorrycharlie: yep! My thoughts exactly. I fear trying because I value my nap time break too much. I am sure we will figure it out at some point but for now, we just come home for nap in the crib.

We had to wing it when we went to Disney when she was 20 months (so very alert). We tried to turn the stroller seat so it was facing us, but she still was distracted. I ended up putting her in the ergo to get her to sleep and then transferring her to the stroller.

My 2.5yo niece did this past weekend on a busy LA pier. They just pulled the shade down all the way and the poor kid completely missed some fishies at the pier.

@winniebee: okay so bringing the "big" stroller may be ideal so she is reclined? I'm thinking about our zoo trip.
@T.H.O.U.: that's a good idea. I can always jam the Ergo under the stroller as an option...
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
E skipped her first nap at the zoo yesterday, then fussed and fought the train ride (she was on my lap) and eventually fell asleep in my arms before i transferred her to the stroller. Confined areas are a bad idea, lol. But she still napped at the zoo. I pulled the top of the stroller down, which helped

@mediagirl: I would! Our jogging stroller reclines and I have taken him out when we have a nap fail and he sleeps until I dtop moving, at least an hour.

Yes, but not often. If she can't nap in her crib, she prefers DH & the Ergo. Got a great nap out of her in San Antonio that way! We're hoping to get stroller naps out of her when we go to Disney in a few weeks. Fingers crossed, because it will be too hot for her to be in the Ergo!

Forward facing like in an umbrella stroller - only if he's really, really tired
Rear facing - generally yes.

My 2.5 year old mostly naps on her stroller or bike trailer these days - we're rarely home for nap time.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
My 12m naps in the stroller often. For us speed is key if we go too slow he's less likely to sleep...
grapefruit / 4903 posts
Nope, she hasn't fallen asleep in the stroller since she was a newborn.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
Only when she was a newborn. We always try to be home for naps though. If she is totally exhausted she will pass out in the stroller. It's only happened a few times when we are traveling and strolling her through the airport
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
We haven't tried it since we stop using the Snap n Go with the infant car seat. I have a feeling no
pomegranate / 3401 posts
She used to....but now at 14 months, no more. Girlfriend doesn't like to miss what's going on!
nectarine / 2994 posts
Lo refuses to go in the stroller these days so I'm going to say no. She only sleeps in her crib and her carseat. She's 19 months.
bananas / 9973 posts
@keiki_mama: Ditto mama! Mine hasn't napped in the stroller since maybe 4-5 months old.
nectarine / 2771 posts
Yup! But, the catch is the stroller has to keep moving because as soon as it stops, she'll wake up. Silly girl.
pineapple / 12053 posts
nope. she skipped her nap when we brought the stroller to the zoo. she will still sleep in the boba 3g though, so we bring that!
pineapple / 12234 posts
It's very rare for E who is 22 months.
On the other hand, B just stopped taking naps out in public and he just turned 5, haha.
grapefruit / 4671 posts
@mediagirl: DD is 22 months and she will go down on th ecrazy streets of NY with fire trucks wooshing by no problem. I usually take the big Uppababy stroller if I know she will need to nap.
grapefruit / 4997 posts
It's been forever since she's napped in her stroller. I can't even remember the last time, I think around Christmas time so 6 months? I miss those days.
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
No. I can't remember a time where he has and he's 10 months old. He's really bad about napping anywhere outside of his crib or our bed, though.
