I currently use a Canon Rebel t2i and a Canon SD1400. I love Canon!!
I had a Nikon Coolpix once, and I just couldn't get used to it. What about you?

We have Canons from printers to cameras.
At work, we do have a Nikon microscope. So I think optically, Nikon is probably better. I think the way Canons process image and color is why we went with Canon.
I think I'll stick to Canons because I hear switching between brands can be confusing because they have different layout on their settings.

We have both. We have a canon rebel xti for many many years now and I really enjoyed it. My husband has always wanted a Nikon for no good reason really so I kept pushing him off. There are some good deals out there for entry level cameras because of the new models coming out so my husband wanted to upgrade. It was between the canon t3i and Nikon 5100. I'm used to my canon (I take 99% of the pictures in our family) so I would've went with canon again. But after much back and forth, my husband went with Nikon. I definitely like the canon interface more but now that I'm using the nikon more, I've gotten used to its layout as well. As for the photos, to me, I found the photos from the canon more vivid which I like. I find that Nikon photos to be more natural though. They both take great photos and it really just comes down to your preference in the placement of controls on the camera.

Neither, I like Olympus DSLR's and Pentax P&S. My Olly is lightweight and just fits my hands better after trying out many, many DSLR's. My Pentax P&S is heavy duty and basically bomb proof- I use it mostly for videos though.
Of the two I do prefer Canon though. Nikons are great, but way overpriced to me. My brother has a Canon, and he took one of the best photos ever of my son when he was a day old. Here it is unedited (just because we can add photos now!)

We have the Nikon D5100 we really debated between it and the Canon EOS T3i Rebel. MY husband had had a Nikon before so I think that swayed the decision.

I had a canon p&s but just recently got a nikon d7000. I loved the canon but am really loving the nikon. I think both have their pros and cons. I think nikon is better for outdoor/wildlife which is majority of what i do and the canon is better for indoor/portrait.

We started out with Canon so we've just stuck to it since we're so used to how they work now.

@zippylef: Dang!!! I'm jealous. That's the camera I want. Maybe I'll get it for my big 30 birthday next year.
I'm Canon even if I technically never owned one or the other.

My husband is a Nikon fan, and we currently have 3 in the family (1 dslr & 2 film). I recently found a Canon rangefinder (film) for $3 at a garage sale, and it's a great little camera. I could probably get use to the older Canon film cameras, but I'll stick with Nikon for digital.

@dharmainitiative: @Mrs. Sunglasses: I LOVE it. DH bought it for me as my very first Mother's Day gift.

Canon all the way here, DH is a filmmaker and wouldn't entertain any other brand.
@MrBee: yay we can upload pics? How?

We have a Canon t3i and have been through several canon point and shoots.

I have always had Nikon P&S's, but just last week purchased my first DSLR! Went with the Canon Rebel T3i.
Everyone I know with DSLR's has the Canon, so it seemed silly to choose Canon, when I could borrow lenses, seek help/advice from Canon friends. Knew for my level there really wouldn't likely be a difference, so staying loyal to Nikon wasn't a huge factor for me jumping to the DSLR.
So far super impressed and loving this camera! A little 6:30am cottage photo-taking fun attached

haha ok WHY after I rotate the pics, do they still upload the original way?! Annoying....what a newbie I am to this!

i'm a professional maternity/newborn/family photographer (also did weddings for 3+ years), and i shoot exclusively nikon. i've used both extensively, and always found myself being pulled back to nikon. the glass for nikons is superior (though more expensive), the coloring is more natural and true-to-life, and the menus and operations are more user-friendly. canons take some beautiful pictures, but they're just not on par with nikon.

We have a Nikon Coolpix as well as a Nikon D90 (DSLR) and love them both. We prefer the glass on the Nikon based on our research, but that being said, I havent tried a canon.
