Was it a sedan? We had a truck for a couple days and had to put the little bit in the front. I HATED it, but what could we do?

@runsyellowlites: gew, I hope it's not preference either! There are some things that just aren't a choice. If you have a backseat, that's where the baby goes! (Sometimes I feel like all parents need pamphlets full of this info)

@MrsCB: That is nosy in the extreme, TBH. I'd never make a comment, purely because you dont know the circumstances.

I would probably be a little judgy at first glance but i'd NEVER make a comment to the person.

Wow. I hope that there is a very good reason for this.

There is a mom at our preschool who has the handle of her infant's seat up all the time in the car, something that is illegal here, and even that has made me totally choked. I have wanted to say something, but I honestly don't want to come off like an ass.

@zippylef: Yeah, the more I think about it, I would probably stay silent, just cuz you never know. But I'd judge silently too, haha.

@runsyellowlites: Gotcha, but it is provincial law here that they have to be down. It is a ticket-able offence, and I had no idea about it until a public health nurse told my mom's group about it!

Wow. Hopefully there is a reason I have a two door car. When I don't take the carseat in the store with me I always set it in the front seat. I always hope people don't walk by my car, see the empty carseat in the front and think I drive with LO like that. It's just easier to take the infant seat out of the back and unstrap him in the front.

Having a car seat in the front is pretty common here in Sweden. They have the airbags removed/disabled.

I'd judge but not stare or say anything.

Also, my infant seat (maxi cosi) had to have the handle up - it said so in the manual and on the seat. I would never put it down while driving, law or not, that was how it was supposed to be used.

@runsyellowlites: I've been doing some research and it doesn't seem like there are actually any laws (in the U.S.) requiring infants to be in the back. Just "guidelines". Yikes! I'd be judgmental too, if I'd have been you. Hopefully she has a real good reason!
