How old was your LO when you turned the carseat around? I know 2 yo is the recommendation, but curious about how strictly people follow that. My 13 month old hates the car and cries during each ride. We are considering facing her forward, since she has met the minimum height/weight. I'm nervous about it, though!

we turned charlie at 1 year. that was before the recommendations came out.
he hated the car seat because he rarely sat in one. it was much better when we forward faced, but he pretty much hated the car seat until he was 2. now he is totally fine in it and usually passes out.
olive hasn't been in a car seat since she turned one. she's so little we will keep her rear facing even though she hates it. i don't think she even meets the weight requirements to face forward at 16 months.

My LO is still rear facing at almost 14 months. Not planning to flip her seat until she is closer to 2.
My friends flipped the seat right when their LO turned 1!

LO is 19 months in two days and she's still facing backward. She's in the 90th percentile in height and weight..... so she's a big girl. But she's not complaining so we're going to try to keep her there until 2.

She will be 1 next month and we plan to keep her rear facing until 2 at least. Like @Mrs. Bee: she is super tiny and no where near the weight requirement to flip.

I turned her right before she turned 18 months. She was starting to complain and struggle in her seat.

@miranlee: around 13-14 months my lo had a really tough time. I think it was because she couldn't see us or communicate with us. Now that she's 17 months and can talk to us (and we understand enough to respond) she is fine being rear facing.

Does anyone know what the height requirement is for the Britax Marathon 70? I looked online and it's 1 year old and 20lbs to flip. They give a seated height but not child height.
M HATES the car seat right now so I think she will do a lot better if she can be front facing.

We haven't yet and lo is 22 months old. I'm trying to avoid it as long as possible cause its safer. He has sat forward in a friends car and wants to but we will push through until he's 40 pounds or going to kindergarten.

We did it at 2.5. Our first daughter is a peanut and it's way safer!

My DD is 19 months and still rear-facing in her Britax Marathon. She hated her carseat from months 10-18... Hated! We moved from NYC (no car) to LA (going everywhere in a car), and I still didn't turn her because I knew turning her wasn't as safe AND it wasn't going to magically fix things anyway.
She fought going in it a lot the first month. But things became more routine and she fought less and less. She loves her carseat now. Naps in it a lot!

@regberadaisy: I just looked because we have this seat. You're supposed to do it when their head is an inch from the top of the shell. Which means we need to do it very soon. Bummed -- I wanted to keep him RF until 2 but we'll fall four months short since he's tall.
@artbee: what seat do you have? Just be careful she doesn't outgrow it RF by height, which is what we're contending with!

DS faced forward at 13 months - before the 2 year old recommendation. We plan to face DD forward at 2 though.

We rear face still at 17 months. DS doesn't love it, but he puts up with it. It helps that he has DD to look at, and he also spends a lot of time staring out the window. We plan to go till he turns 2.
