Our lo turned 6 months yesterday. She has always been really good at bedtime. Read a book, sing some songs, fuss a little, then settle in and fall almost asleep in mom's arms before going into the crib.

The past two nights, she has been beyond fussy at bedtime. We get a book and a half or two books read and she starts crying and fussing and kicking. She starts nuzzling me like she's hungry so, like the sucker I am, I let her eat. My husband calls it her bedtime snack. I'm worried I'm going to start a pattern...she has never needed a snack before bed. She has never nursed right before bed.

After her snack, she looks for her thumb. When she finds her thumb, she calms down for a few seconds before losing it and fussing again. Finally I decided, when she finds her thumb, if it's close enough to 7pm, I'll put her in her crib, leave and shut the door. We did that two nights in a row. She goes down into bed and then we hear her on the monitor start cooing. She plays in bed for about 10 minutes before falling asleep.

Has she found her own new pattern? Could it be she doesn't want to be rocked to sleep anymore, she wants to put herself to sleep in her crib now? Should I put her in her crib when she starts rooting instead of feeding her?

Thoughts?
