Hellobee Boards

Ugggh.

We are definitely going to photobooks & a dvd with some videos of our daughter for both sets of grandparents.

My mom wants a new shirt for hiking.
No idea what to get anyone else- maybe others will have good ideas?

We have two mid-twenties women, a mid-twenties man (and his girlfriend), and both sets of parents to buy for.

Last year we got my husband's parents tickets to a show at a theater nearby, and they seemed to appreciate that. May go that route again this year.

@cmomma17: The ticket idea worked really well for his parents. They don't need any "stuff" and it was a nice excuse for them to get a date night in. We contemplated movie tickets & a gift certificate for dinner, but the theater tickets were a big hit

DD - Clothes, Little Mermaid DVD, toys (I'm thinking a Little People set)
DH - We usually buy a 'gift' together. Hopefully this year it's a tablet of sorts
Mom - I was thinking about an ipad cover from Shutterfly with pictures of DD and my nephew on it
Dad - Something of the Month club (beer, cigars, beef?)
Sister - Clothes
Nephew - Book, clothes & toy (Power Rangers)
MIL - Weathervane, some kitchen dishes
FIL - The hardest person I've ever shopped for... no idea!
SIL - Also difficult... no idea
BIL - Clothes
Nephew - Book, clothes & toy (Bowling set)
Neice - Book, clothes & toy (My Little Pony?)

We cut out gifts for everyone except for the children. My parents are beginning to downsize, my inlaws already downsized and everyone else has tastes that are too specific and expensive to buy anything worthwhile. I don't need another candle or scented lotion, I don't want to give any picture frames or travel mugs.

I sound like a scrooge, but it has made the holidays so much more enjoyable to not have to buy random crap and pretend I bought it because it reminded me of the receiver!

@looch: As soon as DH's brother and his wife have kids, that's what we're going to do too. It is WAY too hard to buy gifts for adults, and frankly, we don't even care that much... It's all about the kids We've at least started drawing names with his family, so we have 2 less people to buy for

DH: I was thinking of getting him this poster. Also maybe a personalized ornament of our dog who unfortunately passed 6 months ago (we're both still not quite over him being gone...)

SIL: Stuff for her new dog, perhaps this personalized dog treat cutter and this moisturiser for paws.

My Pup Leroy: Probably some Beef Pizzles (his favourite) and a new toy.

That's all I've got so far lol. I need to start getting serious about gift buying.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I mentioned it to my mother first, she is like me and doesn't want any random stuff either. She's giving stuff away! She was on board immediately.

My brother, not so much. He wanted to get my husband some coffee cups, but my husband is sooo specific and takes pride in choosing that stuff himself. So I told my brother not to bother with the coffee stuff or anything for me and that we should instead just do gifts for the kids (my son was turning 2 and his wife was expecting). At first he didn't like the idea, but in the end, he was glad he didn't have to go to Banana Republic the night before Christmas to get me a pair of gloves, lol!

@looch: I can only hope that day will come for me. Plus I don't have to open gifts one at a stinkin time amongst grown adults that apparently never had to do that when they were kids! It's a recent tradition?! Whhhhy!

I got pretty lucky this year - my sister/mom gave me ideas so I don't go overboard (which I tend to do)

Sister/BIL - Electric knife (they asked for it)
Mom - MAC Makeup
Dad - Sweater
Niece (13)- PJs + iTunes gift card
Nephew 1 (10) - PJs + Iron Man 3 movie
Nephew 2 (3) - Robe + slippers he's totally into robes right now
DH - nothing, we aren't doing gifts this year
MIL - toaster oven for her new house
BIL + wife - gift card
BIL's new baby not yet born - clothes
BFF - NO idea!
BFF's son (2) - Slippers + tonka toy truck
Work colleagues - I went way overboard last year baking way too much food, so this year they get a bottle of maple syrup each

We draw names for the adults on both sides of the family, but we always get the kids something.

We haven't drawn names on the in-law side yet so I'm not sure what I'll need. I haven't bought anything yet, but this is what I'm thinking

LO - (cheap) tablet & case, personalized book, Little People playset
DH - Keurig (why make a pot when he'll just drink one cup?)
Dad - Gift set for his new hot tub
