It's our first real winter and I want to know what your must haves are for surviving winter in the city. We walk everywhere and take the subway everyday. Kids will be 2.5 and 9 months old.

7 am enfant 212 evolution stroller muff and stroller gloves--amazing!!
Zutano fleece booties for the younger baby.
For me, hunter boots with fleece wellie socks--so warm and water/snow proof.

Warm, waterproof winter boots for your older LO and a snowsuit for the baby. A footmuff for the stroller. If you do a lot of baby wearing, maybe one of those baby wearing coats for you?

I got the new Polar jjcole bunting--it's also very warm and adjustable sized like the 7 am enfant. But now that my LO is walking, I know I will have to invest more in actual winter clothes--last year in the stroller she was so bundled up and never got mittens or scarves or any of that.

Second the Hunter wellies. DD also wears Uggs whenever it isn't snowing for the warmth and comfort factor.

A Bundleme or some other type of stroller blanket
Stroller muff/gloves for your hands
Waterproof snow boots
Some other type of boot (LO has Ugg-type boots)
Snow suit or snow pants at least
A few sets of hats./gloves because we always lose some.

@hilsy85: I really want one but they are so $$$! Do you think they are that much better than say the jj cole bundle me?
@plantains: are hunters ok fur walking around? What about on ice?

@luckypenny: yup, they have great traction in my experience but I have never had real snow boots so don't have anything to compare to.

@luckypenny: hmm I don't know, the jj cole polar was not out when I bought our 7am, so I can't compare them...they sell them at buy buy baby so you can use a 20% off coupon there, and they also price match amazon (i think it was cheaper on amazon). I'm sure you'd be fine with a jj cole one though! Not the urban though, I personally don't think that's warm enough for winter. Or maybe check a local listserve? What area did you end up moving to? If you're by me, I have a GREAT local list serve--I'll wall you
Hunters are great for walking around, although I guess running can be a little awkward in them? They're ok on ice--not amazing, but they have okay traction, in my experience.

we didn't use our stroller bunting last year when olive was 2 because it didn't fit on our double stroller. we just bundled them up.
our must haves for city life:
- snow boots
- waterproof pants
- waterproof gloves
- fleece gloves
- hats & scarves
- rain boots (snow boots are heavy so we only used them for snow play)
i bought a used 7am enfant and sold it for about the same price. they have a high resale value. i bet the jj cole arctic is probably fine though!
