Tell me how you clean & sterilize your bottles and pump parts! It takes me about an hour to hand wash and dry everything at night, and it takes about 2 hours to boil and then dry everything on the weekend. There has got to be a faster way! If you use the dishwasher, do you put bottles in with your regular dishes or run a separate cycle?

I wash by hand and toss in our Tommee Tippee steam sterilizer. Takes 5 min. Then I dry them on our Boon rack.

Oh I just wash them out with hot soapy water then stick them in our microwavable sterilizer - which only takes 5 minutes. Our sterilizer holds 4 bottles and their parts.

At night I hand-wash in soapy water (with my son's bottles from that day) and leave them in a drying rack to dry overnight. I used to also use the microwave steam bags by Medela after hand-washing, but I stopped doing that a few months ago. Now I only sterilize my parts with the microwave bags if they've fallen on the ground or something equally gross.
I boiled them before the first use, but have never done it since.

We wash everything in the dishwasher on the sanitize setting.
If I hand wash, I use the microwave steam bags.

@oahujeni: oh, sorry! I boil a big pot of water and throw it in. I've read you only need to boil for 5-10 minutes. why does it take you 2 hours?

I usually hand wash and only sterilize once a week with the medela steam bags.

We hand wash and then I sterilize in the Medela Steam bags. But I probably don't do it as often as I should! I think I'm averaging once a month!? Oops...

@birdofafeather: because there are so many parts between the bottles and pump parts that i have to do 6-7 pots of boiling water, then dry everything and put it away. I was boiling for 10 minutes each but I should cut it back to 5

@oahujeni: I also don't dry - I let everything hang out on the rack. And we have a tiny kitchen with no counter space.

@oahujeni: ah, all my stuff fits in our big 10 quart pot and if it doesn't, i just pluck it out and throw the next thing in. i don't really put it away either like @dagret: . i just let it dry until i use it next.

This was totally me when LO was first born! I was driving myself crazy sterilizing the parts each night. Then, our doula came to visit and I mentioned it to her. She told me I was overdoing it and that I should try to minimize heating up the plastic too much. So now I keep the pump parts in the refrigerator and reuse them throughout the day. At the end of the day, I rinse the parts in warm tap water and then throw them in a pot of soapy warm water for about 20 minutes. Then, I rinse again and put them on a bottle drying rack. I probably only sterilize once a month as well.
It's still a bit of work but much better than it was. We don't have a dishwasher, so that's not an option for us.

I hand wash everyone in hot soapy water every night then sterilize in a munchkin sterilizer. Never timed myself but maybe 20 minutes?

i hand wash on weeknights, it takes me...maybe 10-15 minutes and dry them overnight in the rack. i will boil them every once in awhile for 10 mins if i feel like someone around her has been sick or whatever. but i don't worry about sterilizing them too much.

I handwash in hot soapy water and let it air dry. Rarely sterilize. It takes me maybe 15-20 min? I do it while LO is eating dinner usually.
