My baby had a blowout into his rear-facing infant car seat (Peg Perego Viaggio). If this has happened to you, have you dismantled the whole car seat and washed it all, or just spot cleaned? He is 10 weeks old and EBF, so its BF poo. If you went through this, what did you use to wash? I've rented to car seat so I can't risk discolouring the fabric or damaging it in any way.

I think the best place to check would be your manual but you shouldn't soak your straps and sunshine gets rid of lots of stains and smells!

Our car wash will "shampoo" baby seats so that might be one option, I would just carefully specify that they avoid the straps. I have dismantled convertible seats before, Britax has a great customer service line that helped me make sure I wasn't messing anything up. If you take it apart take pictures of key areas so you have them as a reference when putting it back together.

The only thing you can really use to clean carseat straps is blue dawn dishsoap and baby wipes. We managed to get rid of awful vomit using those two things, so I think they should work for baby poop! I think you can maybe machine wash on gentle the cover, but I don't think you can dry it. I also agree with leaving it in the sun to air out.
