I think we created a monster. I cannot walk away from DD, she starts screaming and crying with tears.
I need to do things but I hate having her cry. What can I do? Even if I distract her with things she will see me walk away and cry.
Help!

Ahhhh, separation anxiety. I am dealing with that too . . . it is so hard to hear them cry! When I leave, I always go over to LO, kiss her, tell her goodbye, and that I will be home as soon as I can. Then I hand her back to my DH (or whomever) and leave. The person with her as I am leaving usually tries to re-direct her attention to a toy or looking out a window. (((hugs))) mama

@MsLipGloss: my babysitter does that. But what about when you have to leave her because you have to shower, wash her bottles and you're just flying solo?
sigh

I try to explain what I'm doing and tell her I will pick her up as soon as possible. I try to re-direct with new objects (like Tupperware) and sing to her which she loves. It's tough!

I babywear her or make sure she stays in the same room as me. She will usually tolerate being in the same room but not touching for periods of time

@MsLipGloss: i think she understands when I say mommy will be right back i need to blah blah blah and she starts crying even before I leave.
Guess I will have to wait it out

@bunnylove08: I have a bouncy seat that I keep in the bathroom so she can see me while I shower (creepy?!)

@highwire: I also bring LO in the bathroom/kitchen with me too.

@highwire: lol, I do the bouncy seat too but she still cries. I have to play peekaboo behind the shower curtain while I wash my hair to calm her down

Separation anxiety is so fun...
Babywearing and an easily portable highchair are our best friends.
