A friend recommended using disposable for the first month because it's too overwhelming to cloth when you're just getting used to the new baby. We used disposable for 2 weeks and then she grew out of newborn, so I didn't want to keep spending more money on diapers if I could just switch straight to cloth.
We also use disposable if we're going out of town for longer than one night. I just don't like doing laundry on vacation.
Do you ever use disposable, or do you always stick to cloth?

We are 100% cloth diapered, though we use the Grovia brand AI2. So we do use the disposible inserts. Right now he has a rash so we use the disposables when aquaphor is on them, we use them when we are out and about. It is working out well for us right now.

we only cloth diaper at home during the day. If we go out we throw a disposable on and at night when shes sleeping we use disposable.

@lovelife: I almost did disposable at night too but then we found hemp inserts. They helped with the too much pee issue.

We used disposables for the first month, because we had been gifted all of them. Now we only use them when out and about for long periods of time, and overnight.
I would use cloth overnight, but with the doubler her diaper is too big to fit inside her Woombie. And trust me, we can't sleep through the night without the miracle known as the Woombie.

We used disposables the first couple weeks. We also plan to use them when we're away from home for an extended period of time. We'll always have a pack of disposables on hand just in case.

We used disposable diapers at night time until she grew out of the newborn diapers (she was a peanut at birth so they lasted awhile). Since then we've used disposables for trips and night time and everything

Every once in awhile we don't have diapers with us and I run out a buy a small package just to use a single disposable diaper. It happens and it isn't a big deal but we prefer to cloth diaper.

DD has been 100% cloth diapered since she was around 2 months old. At first, I was nervous about cloth, and tried to do it part-time but found that it was actually easier for us to cloth diaper exclusively. I found it to be more complicated to have set ups for both disposable and cloth diapers and much easier to just do cloth all the time. We have used gro-via diapers with the disposable inserts on two overnight trips so far, and they work great!

At 3 weeks we switched exclusively to cloth. She's only in disposables if we're away from the house for 2-3 days. I don't like using other people's washer/dryer for my baby's poo catchers

@Green Thumb: lol, that's very nice of you. I've used my mom's washer b/c we spent the night and for one night I didn't want to go disposable. Grandma's don't mind poo though.

We used disposables for the first 10 days or so. We also use them on long trips.
